    Car now offered at:

    vandp.net/sales/3058/1959-jaguar-3-8-litre-xk150s-drophead-coupe

    Seller's description:

    1959 Jaguar 3.8 litre XK150S Drophead Coupe

    Chassis no: T827485DN

    Registration: YJJ276

    Registered In: UK

    Price: £95,000

    Engine Number: VAS1241-9

Coming to us as an estate sale after over three & a half decades of long term ownership. This is indeed a very rare car & collectable car. Of the XK150's produced only a minority had the 3.8-litre engine, and even fewer were in RHD. In fact, Jaguar only built 23 OTS (Roadsters), 69 DHC and 115 FHCs in 3.8-litre S, RHD form. This glorious car, then, is as rare as teeth on a particularly endangered breed of hen.

The car was restored many many years ago at which time the colour was changed to black from its original racing green. The paint is in generally good order but does exhibit some micro blistering. The suede green interior was also replaced with the current beige lether which is heavily patinated but serviceable for regular use. The car is in good order thoughout & ready for immediate extended use. Alternatively it would make a great basis for a restoration back to its original colours as it left browns lane in.

A few bills come with the car dating back to 1990 when the last deceased onwer purchased the car. It starts runs & drives well with exellent performance from the triple carb' 3.8 litre engine. A beige mohair hood in good condition is eaily raised or lowered although it was very rarely put up in the previous ownership.

A rare and valuable car as it was the 4th rhd car built with a 3.8 triple carb eng, a total of 69.

In LHD form only 19 3.8 VAS convertibles were built.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
