This 1955 Jaguar XK140 MC roadster was purchased by the current owner in 2004 and was refurbished over the next 13 years, including a repaint in pearlescent white and a reupholstered red leather interior. The car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and features include a removable black soft top, 16″ wire wheels, Lucas fog lights, and adjustable seats. This XK140 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, spare parts, and an Iowa title in the owner’s name.
Finished from the factory in Birch Grey, the car was repainted in pearlescent white following the completion of body work during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include a removable black soft top, a split windshield, Lucas fog lights, dual exhaust outlets, and full-width chrome bumpers with overriders.
The 16″ wire wheels are mounted with Michelin Sport tires. A spare is stored under the trunk floor, and braking is handled by drums at each corner.
The adjustable seats were re-trimmed in red leather during the refurbishment, and interior appointments include a cabin heater, a defroster, and door storage pockets.
The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and an ammeter alongside gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer was reset to zero during the refurbishment and now shows 780 miles.
The 3.4-liter inline-six featured dual SU carburetors from the factory for a rating of 220 horsepower, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The engine and transmission were reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment.
Engine block stamping G2888-8S and a corresponding number is listed on the chassis plate as well as the Heritage Trust certificate..
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date of April 15, 1955.
