Comments from the seller
After over 3 decades in my family, we're finally selling this stunning 1955 Jaguar XK140 Drophead Coupe (DHC). Located in Mt Claremont, Perth, this gorgeous jaguar is a chance to own a piece of automotive history, restored over 30 years. Black exterior complemented by a vibrant red interior. The XK140, a direct evolution of the groundbreaking XK120, captivated the motoring world with its blend of performance and luxury. This 1955 model retains its original 3.4-litre inline-six engine, renowned for its smooth power delivery. Every detail, from its elegant lines to its comfortable interior, has been brought back to factory specifications during its comprehensive restoration. This car's chassis was completed on 24 October 1955 and despatched on 9 November 1955 to Sagers, of Salisbury and Bulawayo, Rhodesia. Understood to have been owned by the Wilson family in Bulawayo, Mr Wilson thought to have been an architect. It has also been said that the car was delivered by ship to Cape Town and driven up from there by a Sagers' employee, Mr Strydom. A photograph published in Jaguar Magazine #185 (March 2017) showed the Jaguar dealer Sagers' premises in the 1950s with a very dark coloured XK140 DHC with very dark top, outside with other sedans. The XK could be either 807299DN or 807480DN - both were Black cars with Black tops. The car apparently eventually passed from the Wilsons to a small time Zimbabwean dealer Ron Stirling, from whom in the late 1970s or early 1980s it was acquired by David Stronge. In 2003 he brought the car out from Zimbabwe to Perth. Regd: B30572 (Rhodesia), 289119J (Zimbabwe), JAGXK (WA) Whether you're cruising through the Perth hills or showcasing it at a concours event, this 1955 Jaguar XK140 promises an unforgettable driving experience. Please email me or call my dad Dave Stronge to arrange to view in Mt Claremont, Perth. note - I had to put something in the odometer reading, but its incorrect, no idea what the reading should be.
