Lot #210756
This 1954 Jaguar XK120 roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2003 and underwent over $70k of mechanical refurbishment and modifications between 2022 and 2024, including the installation of a front sway bar, GAZ shocks, and power steering. The 3.4-liter inline-six and dual SU carburetors were rebuilt, the brakes were overhauled, the clutch was replaced, and a stainless-steel exhaust system, an aluminum radiator, a gear-reduction starter, and an alternator were installed along with additional components noted below. Refinished in black over tan leather, the car is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, a tan convertible top, removable side curtains, a split front windshield, 16″ steel wheels with hubcaps and bright trim rings, and Smiths gauges. This XK120 roadster is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and a clean California title.
Finished from the factory in Suede Green, the car was repainted black some time ago and features a tan convertible top, a split front windshield, removable side curtains, and a polished exhaust outlet. The chrome front bumper and rear bumperettes were replaced in 2024, and the prior fender-mounted mirrors were removed and their mounting holes plugged.
The 16″ steel wheels wear hubcaps and bright trim rings and were mounted with 185R16 Vredestein whitewall tires in 2023. Upper shock mounts were welded to the frame to support the GAZ front and rear shock conversion, and an EZ Electric power steering system, a front sway bar, replacement ball joints, and polyurethane suspension bushings have been installed. A replacement brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders were installed in 2023.
The cabin features seats that have been reupholstered in tan leather complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, latch-and-link lap belts, USB charging outlets, and a passenger grab handle.
The wood-rimmed, four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The speedometer was rebuilt and the tachometer cable replaced during the mechanical refresh. The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles, which is not considered to be accurate. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six was rebuilt by Vintage Auto Service of Oakland, California, in 2023, and an aluminum radiator, a cooling fan, and a replacement water pump and thermostat were installed at that time. The dual SU carburetors were rebuilt, the exhaust manifolds were jet-hot coated, and an alternator, a gear-reduction starter, and 123ignition kit were added.
Cylinder head stamping F3141-8 is shown above, and a corresponding number is stamped on the engine block and listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, which was installed under prior ownership. A replacement clutch was installed in 2022. The differential pinion seal and u-joints were replaced in 2023.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and serial numbers along with a build date of May 13, 1954.
