Sellers description:
Jaguar XK120 OTS RHD 1951 - Race Car - for sale
Chassis Number: 660469
This Jaguar XK120 OTS has been built as a modified race car to compete in the JEC XK Challenge. It is one of six original Tester built cars and was once owned by Henry Pearman or Eagle E-Types so as such comes with fine racing pedigree.
This car is a well presented and smart original right hand drive car. The body is all aluminium and much attention has been paid elsewhere to ensuring the car is as light as possible. The engine is a 3.8 XK unit with the triple carburetor setup as per the XK150 S and was rebuilt by respected racing specialists CKL Developments. This is mated to an E-Type four speed gearbox and a limited slip differential (LSD). The engine and gearbox are mounted further back and lower than on a standard XK120 to improve weight distribution.
Currently this XK could be entered into the JEC XK Challenge or similar series or could easily have the period bucket seat refitted (supplied with the car) and be used as a fast road car. The car comes with an extensive history file and many receipts for the work carried out over the years.

Car to be at auction 7/17:
www.silverstoneauctions.com/1951-jaguar-xk120-roadster-10110
Auction description:
Lot No.: 737
Registration: TSK 235
Chassis Number: 660469
Engine Number: ZB50558-8
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 3800cc
Year of Manufacture: 1951
Estimate (£): 90,000 - 110,000
This 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster was sold by the Paragon Motor Company of Oldham to a Mr A.T.G. Edwards on 8th January 1951. The original colour was Bronze with a biscuit interior. Little is known of its history until February 1992 when it was purchased by the last registered keeper from Jim Tester, who had restored the car with his legendary suspension and chassis modifications. It then passed through Henry Pearman of Eagle E-Types, who actually raced TSK 235 at the 50th Anniversary XK celebration in 2009. It was acquired by our vendor in 2012 and he has maintained the car to the very highest standards.
The specification of this 120 is simply incredible. 1 of only 6 believed to have been built, it features an all-alloy body by Bob Smith of R.S. Panels, the aforementioned Jim Tester chassis utilising a six-point, rose jointed rear axle location, rack and pinion steering, 4-pot calipers with vented front discs, a 3.8 litre engine located 6" lower in the chassis frame, big valve cylinder head and triple SU carbs on an E-Type manifold. In addition, "the brakes feature a separate competition pedal box with fully adjustable, twin master cylinders, giving ample leg room for people over 6 feet!"
This specification simply gives the best of both worlds being built as a docile and flexible road car, comfortable for long distance touring yet very competitive on a race circuit if desired. The current UK V5C states the vehicle has had seven former keepers and the history file contains four previous MoT certificates dating back to 1998.
The current owner has campaigned TSK 235 and has had great pleasure in doing so. The car has been almost exclusively maintained by one of the best in the business, CKL Historic Cars & Racing, and there are a vast number of bills in a very detailed history file. Other notable specialists that feature over the years include Racing Green Cars, Sigma Engineering and RS Panels.
If one wanted to build a car to this specification today it would certainly cost over £175,000. We are delighted to offer this stunning XK120 to the open market and encourage prospective bidders to contact the office for further details on what is, without question, a very special Jaguar.

Seller's description:
JAGUAR XK120 OTS RACE CAR, 1951
CHASSIS NUMBER: 660469
METALLIC BLUE WITH RED LEATHER INTERIOR
CHASSIS 1E 11108, JHT CERTIFICATE NUMBER 44768
The XK 120 was built with racing in mind and the car on offer today here at Hexagon has embraced this philosophy like few others. Chassis number 660469 left the factory in 1951 and has been meticulously maintained it's entire life. During the cars life it was rebuilt with the much of the work being carried out Jim Tester and Bob Smith of RS Panels. It is one of only six cars built to this specification. Over the last decade, it has been a regular competitor in a vast amount of historic motorsport events with fantastic success and is a well-known car to this day.
The specification on the car is incredibly extensive. The engine is a fully raced tuned 3.8 litre straight six from a MK10. It runs of Mk10 carburettors with E-Type inlet manifolds. This was done as to lower the height of the dashpots. The cam shafts, in order to optimise performance, are from a series 3 XJ6 and help to create a lovely power curve. The car also features and fully stainless-steel exhaust system that it mated to the engine via MK10 exhaust manifolds. In order to compensate for the increased performance provided by the race tuned engine, the car features disc brakes on all four corners. The fronts are four pot vented discs and the rears are from a late XJ6. All four callipers use Mintex competition pads. The suspension is also uprated and race prepared. The gearbox is 4-speed, complete synchromesh gearbox with overdrive.
The car was recently used by Hexagon Classics in the XK70 hill climb at Shelsey Walsh where the car came second driven by Peter Smith. This exceptional Xk120 OTS would make the perfect club racing car or fast road car for the discerning enthusiast looking for a way into classic motorsport and for a car that can be used and enjoyed on a regular basis.

Chassis number 660469, originally bronze with a two-tone biscuit/tan interior, was despatched from the factory on 8th January 1951, delivered to main distributor Parkers of Bolton. It was sold through Paragon Motors of Oldham to a Mr A T G Edwards on 31st December 1951. Nothing is then known of the car until Jaguar issued a vehicle information sheet on 30th June 1988, confirming the identity of the car; the owner at that time is unknown.
Some time after that the car was completely rebuilt by Jim Tester with a full alloy body supplied by RS Panels. The chassis was modified to full Tester specification, including a six point rose-jointed rear axle, front suspension modifications, Koni shock absorbers, full rack and pinion steering and disc brakes. The engine, originally from a Jaguar Mk X, is a blue-printed 4.2 litre with a big valve cylinder head, XJ6 camshafts for better power delivery and triple SU carburettors from a Mk X on an E Type manifold. Rebuilt by Sigma, it now produces around 320 bhp. The engine was mounted six inches lower in the chassis and is mated to a four speed, full synchromesh gearbox. A larger core alloy radiator is fitted, with a competition cooling fan and a circulation booster pump. The rear axle has a limited slip differential and uprated half shafts. It has an adjustable competition pedal box with twin master cylinders and brake servos, 4 pot calipers, vented front discs and competition pads.
An alloy fuel tank is fitted, with a Monza filler cap, competition fuel pump and regulator. A battery isolator switch and fire extinguisher system are fitted, together with aluminium competition bucket seats, trimmed in ox-blood leather, and full harnesses. There is an isolator and alarm switch on the right under-side of the dashboard.
TSK235 was one of only six XK120s built to this specification and was purchased by Henry Pearman of Eagle Racing Ltd on 4th February 1998. He bought the car to join the first JEC Challenge series and raced it in the XK 50th Anniversary event. It also competed successfully in the 60th Anniversary hill climb.
When advertised for sale by Pearman, the car was painted in British Racing Green and was the only “Jim Tester” car to have a full windscreen and side screens. It was sold to Roger Learmonth who had Brian Stevens of XK Motorsport convert it to full race specification but avoided cutting the body to fit the roll-over bar. The engine was prepared by Peter Lander of Sigma Engineering. Learmonth ran her in the first half dozen Challenger races and said: “She went like stink! I’ve owned thirteen XKs and TSK was the best driving XK I’ve experienced.” Top speed is close to 140 mph.
Subsequently the car has passed through three other periods of ownership during which it was campaigned successfully in numerous events. The most recent owner was Guy Ziser. The full windscreen has been replaced by two Brooklands aero screens with fairings and a single roll-over hoop has been fitted. The engine was rebuilt again by Sigma and, most recently, by CKL.
