1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
Asking Price: £94,950
1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
Chassis Number - 660463
Engine Number - W 2399-8
Gearbox Number - JH 4789
Delivered new to a Dr JM Hendry of Glasgow in January 1951. This original right hand drive XK120 roadster is in extremely fine order throughout, having been subject to a thorough restoration.
Finished in black with biscuit and red leather upholstery and sporting steel wheels and spats.
A very rare and desirable combination in terms of 120 specification.
The restorative work took place over a number of years, and was carried out to a high standard. The owners focus was on originality, therefore this is a matching numbers example and is finished in it's original colour combination.
The only deviations from standard are necessary upgrades for anybody wanting to use their XK120 regularly;
- An electric Kenlowe fan & a much improved cooling system
- Disc brakes (original drum brakes accompany the car)
- Electronic ignition
This is a second time this glorious car has graced our showroom, the gentleman who bought JGA 421 from us in 2016, put the car straight to work by competing in European tours and rallies. During these adventures the car suffered no issues whatsoever and proved to be a perfect companion. For sale now only due to the purchase of a new toy and the desire to take part in more extreme rallies.
With a recent influx of Left hand drive examples coming in from overseas, original right hand drive home market cars are now more difficult to come across. This lovely example promises to provide many years of enjoyment, ready to go supplied with a healthy service file, Jaguar heritage certificate and car cover.

This Jaguar XK120 Roadster is an elegant classic roadster, which has been fitted with several upgraded parts.
It is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.4-litre inline-six fed by twin SU carburettors, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a retrofitted five-speed manual transmission.
The odometer indicates 80,805 miles, though this is not warranted.
Equipment and features
The car is finished in black over a Maroon and Biscuit leather-trimmed cabin.
It rides on a set of 16-inch wheels, fitted with chrome covers.
Equipment includes a split windscreen, rear wheel arch spats, a four-spoke steering wheel, Smiths gauges, door card storage pockets, and leather door pulls.
The seller reports that upgrades include electric power steering, disc brakes, a five-speed manual gearbox with high-ratio final drive, an aluminium radiator, and an aluminium expansion tank.
Accompanying the sale are several magazines, various invoices, and one key.
Condition
Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
Specific notes from the seller include: the seats are worn, the soft top is worn and damaged, and the chrome soft top structure does not operate correctly.
The seller states that the vehicle was treated to a ‘chassis-up restoration’ between 12 and 14 years ago, which included respraying the paintwork and retrimming the cabin.
The car is believed to be exempt from mandatory MOT testing due to its age.
Service history
The seller states that the car was last serviced in May 2024 by Guy Broad Jaguar, who installed the front brake discs and pads, stripped and set up the carburettors, and renewed the engine oil and filter, alternator, spark plugs, front bushes, rear suspension bushes, and torsion bars.
Prior to this, services were reportedly carried out by Guy Broad Jaguar in 2023 and 2022.
The seller also states that electronic ignition was installed by Guy Broad Jaguar in October 2021, during which time the carburettors were also tuned and the vehicle was serviced.
