Auction description:

Seller eubond

Location: Nieuw Vennep, Netherlands

Seller Type: Private

Odometer Reading: 37614 kms

Chassis Number: S834941

Gearbox: Manual

Steering position: Left-hand drive

Colour: Black

Interior: Red Leather

Estimated Price: €30,000 - €50,000

This car is offered from outside of the European Union. It has been imported under temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to Dutch import tax (9%) on top of the winning bid price. Cars less than 30 years old will pay 10% Dutch import tax plus 21% VAT on the hammer. If exporting immediately to another country, then tax/duty will only be paid in that country.

The winning bidder will pay €500 customs charge on top of the ‘hammer’ price.

The winning bidder will receive a receipt for the final hammer value, as their proof of purchase.

This vehicle has been on static display in the Middle East for a number of years and the only history or paperwork available is displayed in the photo gallery. In all cases the papers shown are photocopies unless otherwise stated. We do not have the original paperwork.

Unless otherwise stated, we have not tried to start or drive the car and cannot vouch for its mechanical viability or functionality. The car is not registered anywhere.

It will require recommissioning prior to road use and is sold ‘as seen’.

The example on offer today, chassis No. S834941, is a 1958 LHD Jaguar XK150 3.8 auto model.

The car comes with no history or service records beyond whatever documentation is shown in the gallery, although it does have copies of old German licensing documents.

We believe the car was originally built with the standard manual, non-overdrive gearbox and might be of particular interest to someone looking to restore it to that much-sought-after original specification.

It was bought for the vendor’s collection in 2011 from a classic car restoration business in Belgium.

In our opinion, this car’s condition is excellent.

The car’s odometer reads 37,614 kms.

On the Outside

It’s a very handsome car, there’s no mistaking that, and it has clearly been restored and maintained to a very high standard by people with the right levels of expertise and passion.

The bodywork appears free of any dents, dinks, warps or bends of any significance, and the door gaps and shut lines all seem fine.

The blue paintwork, too, has held up very well.

The chrome work and wire wheels are in very impressive order, as is most of the exterior trim, fixtures and fittings.

There are some scratches on the driver’s door and on the roof and a couple of small chips on the windscreen.

On the Inside

Aside from needing the attentions of someone with a damp cloth and some soapy water, the interior is every bit as impressive as the exterior.

Very few manufacturers do the wood and leather thing better than Jaguar and this car is a testament to skills of the French polishers and saddlers who built, restored and maintained it.

The red leather upholstery is in excellent condition and the seats are comfortable and supportive, although the passenger seat is set at a rather too relaxed angle of incline and will need adjusting.

The door cards are good, as are the carpets, mats and headlining.

The wood veneers on the dashboard are also in fine order, as is the wooden Moto Lita steering wheel.

We can’t make any claims about the full functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials or other electrics as we haven’t tried to start or drive the vehicle.

The boot is also very good.

Underneath

The undersides of the car look really very decent and what we can see appears to have a good amount of structural integrity.

The engine and engine bay are reassuringly clean and dry, and everything seems to be present and correct.

History Highlights

The car doesn’t come with any history or service records, unless otherwise stated.

Any paperwork we have is photographed and displayed in the photo gallery.

We do not have anything else.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
