This 1956 Jaguar XK140 MC Fixed Head Coupe is a left-hand-drive model that was delivered new to New York. It is believed that the car spent time in Southern California before being moved to the Pacific Northwest in the 1980s, and at some point in the 1990s the car was disassembled for a restoration. The body remains stripped after rust repair was performed, the frame was powdercoated, and the suspension was replaced. 16″ wire wheels are mounted with factory knock-off hubs, and the removed numbers-matching engine and transmission are included with the car along with removed body panels, trim pieces, refurbished components, a new wiring harness, and more. This XK140 FHC project car was acquired by the selling dealer in late 2020 and is now offered with a JHT certificate, a tool roll, and a clean Oregon title.
Delivered new in Cream over red, the car was stripped to metal at some point in the 1990s. Rust repair was performed around that time, and some of the body panels were finished in a protective primer. The rear quarter panels, hood, trunk lid, mirrors, lights, and various exterior components are included in the sale.
The frame is said to have been powdercoated before replacement suspension parts and Spax shocks were fitted. Braking components will accompany the car, and the seller notes that the brake wheel cylinders are missing. The car rolls on 16″ wire wheels, which are mounted with two-ear Jaguar knock-offs and wear Dayton tires.
The stripped interior is shown above, and the seller notes that one wing window and both window regulators are missing from the included parts.
The engine is removed from the car, and a stainless-steel Falcon exhaust system has been loosely fitted.
Additional photos of the frame, steering components, suspension, and underside are provided in the gallery.
The 3,442cc inline-six is said to have been overbored 0.030″ during previous ownership. A four-speed manual transmission, crankshaft, pistons, carburetors, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, and other associated parts are depicted in the gallery.
The engine-block stamping reads G7820-8S and matches the number shown on the JHT certificate below. The stamping on the C-type cylinder head shows the same serial number. Gearbox stamping JL 35203 is pictured in the gallery and also matches the certificate.
More than 120 photos will accompany the vehicle. Components include a rebuilt heater and wiper motor, a recored and refinished radiator, various trim and body pieces, factory “BEES” hardware, refreshed brightwork, a new wiring harness, a black California license plate, a tool roll, and more as depicted in the gallery.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists a production date of August 30, 1956 along with the original colors, serial numbers, and delivery to Jaguar Cars in New York. The engine’s S suffix and the chassis number’s S prefix were characteristics of the MC edition of the XK140, which was known as the SE in other markets.
