Ebay item 5/19/06

Current bid $5,600 reserve not met, 11 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1955 Jaguar XK140 that would make a perfect restoration project for any Jaguar enthusiast out there. This XK140 is in fairly good condition considering it has been in a storage shed for the last thirty years! It was purchased in the early seventies and was driven to it's current location at that time - it was consequently only driven a few more times within the first few months of ownership. We unfortunately cannot test this Jag - it would need a complete lubrication job and tune-up in order to start-up. It seems to include all the originals parts, including the original Jaguar engine and trany. Compared to many un-restored XK140's, this one seems to be in better shape than most. A few of them on eBay sold for fairly good money considering they were missing all sorts of parts - some didn't even have an engine! Here's your opportunity to own this restorable Jag without having to hunt down major components all over the country!

Based on the information found on a few Jaguar websites, this is one of the Special Equipment models with twin exhaust system and wire wheels.

Please note that the current owner of this vehicle has not made any modifications to this vehicle.

I am currently restoring the car in Prescott, AZ. Above description is wrong as it has a 3.8 engine from a MK IX. and overdrive transmission.

Opening bid US $50,000.00
Reserve not met, no bids 6 days left in auction, buy it now price $62,000. Car still in Prescott as mentioned above.

Sellers description:
Offered here a Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe that was rescued from a barn in Colorado. It has been restored and has won numerous trophies at local car shows and was awarded "Most Desirable Car" out of 100+ cars at the British-European Auto Tour in 2012.

At some point in its history the 3.4 L engine was replaced with a 3.8L coupled with an overdrive transmission. The overdrive plus the standard 3.54 ratio differential provides exceptional high speed touring with low engine rpms.

Modifications: aluminum radiator (original will be provided), Pertronix ignition, 12V battery, electrical switch for starting carburetor. (All these can be reversed if the new owner desires.)

What's new: bumpers and over riders, grill, radiator, brake components, hoses, all interior parts and headliner, 5 wire wheels and tires.

What's missing: windshield washer parts and trunk light.

Interior wood has been repaired or replaced as needed.
This car needs nothing and will provide the new owner with an enjoyable touring experience.

Lot #160717

This 1955 Jaguar XK140 fixed head coupe received a cosmetic refresh in the last decade, including a repaint in dark green and reupholstered tan leather seats. The car is powered by a replacement 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and features 16″ wire spoke wheels, Wilwood front disc brakes, power steering, an aluminum radiator, Lucas fog lights, wood interior trim, and adjustable seats. This XK140 was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a Pennsylvania title.

Finished from the factory in red, the car was repainted dark green in the last ten years and features a split windshield, front vent windows, Lucas fog lights, bright trim, dual exhaust outlets, and full-width chrome bumpers with overriders. The center windshield trim is included in the sale.

The 16″ wire spoke wheels are secured with two-eared knockoffs and are mounted with 185HR16 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A full-size spare is stored under the trunk floor. The brake system features Wilwood front discs and an auxiliary vacuum booster. Electric power steering has also been added.

The adjustable seats have been reupholstered in tan leather and replacement door panels have been installed. Interior appointments include a cabin heater, a defroster, wind-up side windows, door storage pockets, and a folding rear bulkhead. There are stains on the headliner and carpets.

The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and an ammeter alongside gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 3.4-liter inline-six is equipped with an aluminum radiator and stainless steel exhaust system. The seller notes that the wiring harness has been replaced and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate lists factory colors and drivetrain numbers as well as initial distribution to New York via Hoffman.

The Pennsylvania title lists “Not Actual Mileage” under the odometer status.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
