Splendid in its factory-correct British Racing Green over Tan livery and tan convertible top, this XK120 is a desirable, fully restored roadster in high-performance SE trim. According to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate accompanying this XK, this car was dispatched in February 1953, destined for Jaguar's West Coast distributor, Charles Hornberg of Los Angeles, California. Photos on file show that, prior to its restoration, it looked remarkably solid and complete. It has subsequently been completely restored by some of the best marque experts, and is presented today as it left the works, in the classic combination of 'BRG' with tan upholstery. It rolls on chrome wire wheels shod with period-style black-wall tires to complete the fantastic aesthetic. Much of the restoration work was performed by carefully selected specialists, including XK's Unlimited, who completed the engine and transmission. Paint and bodywork were handled by Saccio Enterprises of San Diego, with the interior being completed by Westminster Auto Upholstery in Anaheim, CA and finally the convertible top was expertly crafted by K&H Auto Upholstery from Garden Grove, CA.
Per the accompanying Heritage Certificate, this it does retain its numbers-matching engine block; however, the cylinder head is a period replacement. The original cylinder head will accompany the vehicle as will the tool kit, jack and fresh side curtains. The engine compartment is detailed to a similarly high standard, with signature details like polished alloy cam covers and intake. Eligible for a host of international driving events, this lovely example of Jaguar's iconic XK Roadster model, finished in one of the most ideal liveries, deserves serious consideration and would be a fitting addition to many collectors' garages.

Lot #193243
This green-over-tan 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE roadster was initially distributed through Charles H. Hornburg, Jr., Inc. of Los Angeles, California. A refurbishment was commenced under prior ownership by powdercoating the frame and having the engine and transmission rebuilt by XKs Unlimited of San Luis Obispo, California. The current owner purchased the car in 2017 and oversaw completion of the refurbishment, which occurred in October 2024. Paint and body work is said to have been performed by Sacio Enterprises of San Diego, California, and the interior was redone by Westminster Auto Interiors of Anaheim, California. Powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission, the car features dual SU carburetors, a C-type cylinder head, a beige convertible top, side curtains, chrome 16” wire wheels, and Smiths gauges. This XK120 SE is now offered in California with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, a folder of service records, a tool roll, and an Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The car is said to have been repainted in British Racing Green following body work performed by Sacio Enterprises. The beige convertible top and matching side curtains reportedly were redone by K&H European Auto Upholstery of Garden Grove, California. Exterior equipment includes a split front windshield, chrome front bumpers, chrome rear bumperettes, and polished dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome-finished 16” wire wheels from Motor Wheel Service feature knock-off hubs and are mounted with 185-series Firestone tires. The suspension and braking systems were rebuilt during the refurbishment.
The cabin features tan leather upholstery that reportedly was sourced from England and installed by Westminster Auto Interiors during the refurbishment. Color-coordinated door panels and carpeting are complemented by a passenger-side grab handle, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, and door-panel map pockets.
The four-spoke steering wheel has been refurbished. Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 170 miles, which is said to reflect the distance accumulated since completion of the refurbishment; true mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features dual SU carburetors. The engine and carburetors were rebuilt by XKs Unlimited under prior ownership, and the cylinder head is said to have been replaced with a C-type unit. The removed cylinder head is included in the sale and pictured in the gallery below.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The frame was powdercoated and the transmission was rebuilt under previous ownership.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors and identification numbers, along with a build date of January 28, 1953.
The replacement identification plaque pictured above bears the chassis number S673517. However, the Arizona title cites the sequence W734685, which is a variation of the engine number listed on the above tag: W7346-8S. The title also describes the vehicle’s body style as an abbreviation for “coupe”.
