This 1956 Jaguar XK140 MC is a Drophead coupe that was completed on January 16, 1956 and reportedly spent approximately 50 years with the same family. The car underwent a multi-year body-off refurbishment during the late 1990s and was acquired by the seller’s father in 2014. It is powered by a 3.4L inline-six mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and is finished in white over red leather upholstery. Features include a black soft top, Lucas front driving lamps, a push-button AM radio, fender-mounted side mirrors, and knock-off wire wheels. This XK140 Drophead coupe is being offered by the seller on behalf of their father with photos from the refurbishment, a spare parts catalog and shop manual, a Production Record Trace certificate, and a clean Texas title.
Finished from the factory in Cream, the body was removed from the frame and repainted white during the refurbishment. Exterior details include a black soft top and boot cover with red piping along with Lucas driving lamps, fender-mounted side mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. Paint chips and other blemishes are visible.
Chrome 16” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with 205/75 Federal Maha Steel 357 tires. Braking is via four-wheel drums.
The cabin houses seats that are trimmed in red leather upholstery, along with color-coordinated carpets and door panels. Appointments include a wood dash and trim, a push-button AM radio, and lap belts.
A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary displays. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 500 miles, around 400 of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4L inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. The choke assembly was repaired and the spark plugs replaced in September 2022.
The Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers, along with a completion date of January 16, 1956.
