Lot 1137 1954 Jaguar XK120 fhc
Registration no: EU registered
Chassis no: 680893
Estimate: £45,000-55,000
This late 1954 Jaguar XK 120 FHC was delivered new to the U.S. and was reimported into Germany in the 1990s. Late in 2000 a total nut and bolt restoration with the view of a concours contender was started and 3 years later a remarkable result had been achieved. The attention to detail is truly outstanding and the technical condition of this car is up to the same standard. Finished in gleaming black with wire wheels and dark green leather interior ( with the rare bucket seats ) this XK 120 has museum quality and is a definite concours contender or a jewel in a collection of post war Jaguar Sports cars. There are various documents, photos and bills in its file and the US - ( copy ) title and customs cleared documents to the EU are also on hand, enabling its fortunate new owner getting it registered for immediate use. A very rare opportunity - not to be missed.

The current thinking is the above auctions (black car) were a misread of the VIN. A different car is to be at auction 3/15 with good credentials. Any confirmation of either car are welcomed.

3.4-liter straight-six cylinder engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission
Benefits from a previous restoration
Wonderfully presented with its burlwood dashboard, Smith instrumentation, rear spats, and dual side mirrors
According to a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate on file, this XK 120 fixed-head coupe was completed in early March 1953 and dispatched shortly thereafter to its first owner via Max Hoffman’s New York-based distributorship. Though originally clad in Dove Grey over a red leather interior, at some point during previous ownership the car was restored to a handsome, and period-style combination of Champagne over black leather.
Observation of extant number stampings reveal that the car’s presently equipped engine block, cylinder head, and body match those listed on the JDHT documentation. Riding on steel wheels finished with factory-style hubs, this wonderfully presented XK 120 Fixed Head Coupe is now accompanied by a tool kit and spare wheel.

Originally finished in Dove Grey, the Jaguar would later join a private collection, remaining there until recently. Today this classic XK Fixed Head Coupe shows beautifully throughout and is reported to run and drive very well. Rear-wheel spats, body-colored steel disc-type wheels, and period style blackwall tires enhance the gorgeous, sleek exterior of this XK120. The decidedly luxurious character of this Jaguar is heightened by its taut and attractive black leather upholstery, proper Smiths instruments, and finely restored, visually striking burled wood interior trim.
Crucially, this XK120 FHC maintains excellent integrity by retaining its original, numbers-matching 3.4-liter engine block and cylinder head - confirmed by the corresponding Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate that accompanies the sale of the car. In addition, this Jaguar is offered with a factory tool kit and mounted spare wheel.
As few as 2,678 XK120 Fixed Head Coupes were produced between 1951-54, with the model featuring unforgettable styling and an exquisitely wood-trimmed interior.
