Seen on eBay, April 2007. This is unusual, as someone is trying to sell the info on where this car is located, not the car itself!
Ad reads:
"This auction is for a Finder’s Fee only, for a 1948 (?) Jaguar XK-120 FHC. The winner of this auction will get the exact owner’s name, address and telephone number of the car. The car is located about 75 miles southeast of Raleigh, North Carolina. As you can see by the pictures, the car is only a shell and is up off the ground supported by a wood frame and metal barrels.. The owner has a forklift and says he can get it out of the woods and put it on a truck or trailer.
There is no engine, drive train, suspension or interior. The body is just a shell. HOWEVER, there is a good data plate still on the car. The numbers from the data plate are as follows. These are the best I could do in the dim light, and they may not be exact.
Chassis: G79687, Body: J1690, Engine: W9161-8, Gearbox: JL10679. As you can see by the photos, the chassis appears to be all there, but in front the fenders were cut neatly behind the chassis ends. (Maybe to fix another accident car).
I have not purchased the car because I no longer have the capability to store it anywhere. I have put the reserve price at a low $300.00 just to get my costs back for travel expenses and the costs of this auction. The winner will get the owner’s actual information ( name, address and phone number) upon receipt of the auction payment to me. Please remember this is not for the car, but for information on the car’s exact location. As rare and expensive as Jaguar XK-120 models are becoming, this car might have some long term restoration potential. Understand that there is no title with the car."

Hi, I'm the current owner of this car. I saw it sitting behind a garage not too far from my home ( in NE PA) and tracked down the owner. He is the guy that bought the finders fee, then made the purchase in NC. He added a few parts; doors, front and rear suspention parts, gas tank, a set of front fenders to repair the front end, and several boxes of misc parts. Although the car looks and is rough, the frame and what remains of the body is suprisingly solid. I made the purchase and took it home and its now inside a garage while I continue to track down parts. I have purchased repairable rear fenders, a decent original deck lid, and a decent original bonet. I now have all the major body pieces to start reassembly. I'm looking for a good rebuildable engine, and of course everything else it needs. As the first 'Anounymous' comment wrote; What is so 'unrestorable' about this car? I'm excited and anxious to get started on putting it back together. Wish me luck!

I will update as the project progresses. This will most likely take years! LOL

Good on you for saving it! I'd likely do the same thing.
