    Sellers description:
1954 Jaguar XK 120 Drop Head Coupe. Built in July of 1953 and originally sold through Max Hoffman's in New York.

This beautiful car has been in the same family for over 25 years. She has been thoroughly enjoyed in those years and in 2006-2007 underwent a complete nut and bolt restoration by Donovan Motorcars in MA. Since the restoration, this car has won numerous Best in Class and Best in Show concours throughout New England, including the Lime Rock Park, Sunday in the Park Concours and the Berkshires/Tanglewood British Motorcar Festival.

The car runs and drives beautifully, sitting on the correct Avon tires and being propelled by the numbers matching dual overhead cam 3.4L 6 cyl. engine and trans, which was pumped up just a little by Brian Donovan when the motor was rebuilt as part of the restoration. To keep the motor running cool a 4 core aluminum radiator was installed, however, the original rad comes with the car. The car is a fully numbers matching car.

The Jaguar Heritage Certificate shows the car came originally in Pastel Green with a Suede Green interior. She now sits in British Racing Green over a Fawn interior and Fawn Hood. The dash board has been completed in English Burlwood and the odometer shows just 16,000 miles since the restoration.

There a couple of very minor points of wear that show the car has been driven those 16K miles.

The car is being sold as the owner has several other cars and this one and one other from his collection simply aren't getting used enough and he feels its time for them to be moved on to new conservators.

The car is registered in CT and in CT, they do not offer titles on cars of 20 years of age or older, so a Bill of Sale, official CT State Q1 form, the CT registration and a letter from the State showing the statute that exempts automobiles of 20+ years from a title, will go with the car when sold so the new owner can register this beauty easily in their own state or country.

The level of quality on this car puts her near the top of the heap and as such the asking price is $135,000. That price is negotiable

Private Party or Dealer: Private Party

    Lot #75847

This 1954 Jaguar XK120 is a left-hand-drive Drophead coupe that was built on July 22, 1953 and dispatched to New York-based importer Max Hoffman on the 18th of the following month. Power comes from a 3.4-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a tan soft top, an aluminum radiator, twin SU carburetors, and chrome wire wheels. The body and frame were refinished and the seats were reupholstered during prior ownership, and following the seller’s acquisition out of Connecticut in 2020 a new headliner and carpets were fitted, the oil was changed, and the spark plugs were replaced. This XK120 is offered with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, a spare radiator and batteries, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

This XK120 was originally finished in Pastel Green according to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and it was repainted in the current shade of British Racing Green during prior ownership by Donovan Motorcars of Lenox, Massachusetts. Features include a tan soft top and boot cover, a split windshield, fender-mounted mirrors, and chrome rear bumperettes.

The car was equipped from the factory with a four-wheel drum brake system, and 16” wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-offs and fitted with Avon radial tires. A matching wheel and tire combination is stored within the trunk.

The interior was trimmed in Suede Green from the factory, and it was reupholstered with tan leather during prior ownership. The seller commissioned the installation of a matching headliner and carpets, which were fitted by Florisun Automotive of Fort Myers, Florida, and burl wood accents the dashboard, door caps, and window trim. Additional features include a slide-out storage tray, and lap belts for both occupants. The seller notes that the clock does not work.

Centralized Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer as well as an ammeter and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer indicates that nearly 18k miles have been driven since completion of the refurbishment. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six features twin side-draft SU carburetors and was rated at 160 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque when new. An aluminum radiator has been installed, and the removed unit is included in the sale. Service conducted in preparation for the sale included an oil change, repairing the horn, and replacing the spark plugs.

Cylinder-head stamping W9330-8 matches the engine number noted on the chassis identification plate and on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate indicates a manufacture date in July 1953 and lists original colors, equipment, and identification numbers as well as distribution through Max Hoffman of New York.
