Ebay item 1/14/08 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-Jaguar-XK120-DHC-DHC-1953-Jaguar-XK120-DHC-54-526 ...
Current bid $10,000 reserve not met, 1 bid, 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $100k. 54k miles.
Sellers description:
This is the ultimate driver's car of the beautiful XK120 series.
Except for the very rare early alloy 120's the DHC versions were produced in lowest quantities, approximately 1760 total being manufactured.
This is a seriously original vehicle, NO RUST EVER!, ALL ORIGINAL, TOTALLY UNMOLESTED. EXCEPT: VERY, VERY, MINOR REPAIR TO PARKING LOT DENT, POSITIVELY NOT STRUCTURAL.
This Jaguar has a wonderful early history, as the first owner rallied the car in the Midwest, (USA) --- AUTHENTIC badges are attached to panel behind seats. These were all contemporary activities and add to the beauty of the car as no restoration ever could DETAILS:
Body + Frame: Superb, all original paint, except for some minor repairs handled by current owner in original black cellulose laquar. ABSOLUTELY NOT RESTORED NO RUST frame solid as a brick house, cannot get more original as this car has under 54,000 original miles! (basically we used the car as garage sculpture)
Brightwork / Chrome: Unpitted, honest 50+ year old finish, not one piece of trim has been replaced, historical patina only
Interior: Absolutely original, and in some cases therefore tired. Obviously the carpets worn, but honestly so -- The LEATHER is very worn, with torn sections as the image clearly shows, and holes in driver side. The edges of the seat are very good, and the supporting leather (door panels, and basic trim) is very good. The wool of the drop head is also worn. Obviously the new owner has an important choice here, leave as is; repair; restore; or replace. Oiling and repairing would be best option, as the patina on the leather is probably too valubale in a vehicle of this originality.
Mechanical: Everything original, again, no mods, no surprises, just like it left the factory + time.
Recent work: The car is very roadworthy; the brakes have just been completely redone, and the front suspension has been rebuilt, all NOS PARTS and there are four new tires proper for this vehicle, whitewall radials. In all $ 9200.00 was spent last year. This work was done by Don's Jaguar, Flemington, New Jersey. We purchased the vehicle 20 years ago, this is only the 2nd time this vehicle has been offered for sale, the title shows it had only 1 prvious owner (who added some lovely history to it). ALSO COMPLETE ORIGINAL TOOLKIT COMES WITH VEHICLE, ALL ORIGINAL AS RECEIVED IN 1953!
The last appraised value on this car was $ 85,000. (in the roaring 80's more) Our reserve is far below -- time for next owner, the vehicle may be seen in western New Jersey (near Belvidere, NJ)
