Ebay item 8/6/12

Current bid $4,450 reserve not met, 2 bids 6 days left in auction. 55k miles.

Sellers description:
We found this 1954 Jaguar in a barn were it sat for almost 10 years. It is a Special Equipment chassis and engine vin with the "S". It also has an unusual paint scheme of white with white interior, black top. We have a copy from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust on this vehicle. The story goes that it was last on the road in Michigan in 1963 and has passed through a few owners. My guess is that there was a problem with the transmission and that's when its driving days ended. There is a transmission case installed that is empty of gears and shafts, used to support the back of engine. The right hand door was removed from the hinges probably to make it easier to work on. The door is just in place and not attached to the hinges. There are no floors or seats, the transmission tunnel and driveshaft tunnel are in good shape. The battery boxes are solid as a rock. There is minimal rust through on the car; front of both rear wheels, bottom of headlight buckets and left front fender. No real dents except to left front of fender. Aluminum doors, trunk and bonnet are in great shape. The body and engine numbers are matching to vin plate, the transmission is not. All four wheel brake drums have been removed from the car but are included. We hooked up a battery and gas line to the new fuel pump. The engine started up, ran and sounded good, with 60 lbs oil pressure. Car comes with a clear Mass title.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
