Lot #127026
This 1954 Jaguar XK120 roadster was completed on February 8, 1954, distributed through Max Hoffman of New York, and acquired by the selling dealer in 2023 from a reported long-term owner who oversaw a multiyear body-off refurbishment. Work included overboring the 3.4-liter inline-six .020″, replacing the pistons, grinding the crankshaft, and carrying out a green color-coordinated cosmetic refresh. Equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, a green soft top, a split windshield, body-color 16″ steel wheels, four-wheel drum brakes, rear fender skirts, and Smiths instrumentation. This XK120 roadster is now offered with refurbishment records and photos, a black tonneau cover, a Production Record Trace certificate, and a Pennsylvania title in the selling dealer’s name.
The car left the factory in Lavender Grey and was repainted its current shade of green during the aforementioned refurbishment. Equipment includes a split chrome front bumper and rear bumperettes, a split windshield, fender-mounted mirrors, a green soft top, rear fender skirts, and a single polished exhaust outlet.
Body-color 16″ steel wheels wear Jaguar-branded hubcaps and are mounted with Coker Classic tires. A full-size spare is stored under a cover in the trunk.
The cabin was reupholstered as part of the refurbishment with green leather on the dashboard, seats, and door panels in addition to green carpeting on the transmission tunnel and floor. The interior was fitted with a sound-deadening material, and additional appointments are composed of a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger grab bar, and door map pockets.
The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an inset clock as well as gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six is said to be equipped with a replacement engine block that was reportedly sourced from a 1955 XK140 and fitted in the 1970s. A 2015 overhaul included machining the block, boring the cylinders .020″ over, replacing the pistons, grinding the crankshaft, and repairing the oil pan. Additional equipment includes dual SU carburetors, an Intermotor ignition coil, and a Wizard Cooling aluminum radiator. The heater core was reportedly replaced in 2023, and work in preparation for the sale included an oil change, a coolant flush, and installing an Optima battery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors, production and dispatch information, and identification numbers.
A folder containing photos of the car during the refurbishment and receipts is included in the sale.
The Pennsylvania title is marked with an “Antique” brand.
