Cylinder head and carburetters currently fitted are correct for later XKs, but not original to this car.

Sellers description:
XK 120, chassis # 670171, of the 184LH drive aluminum factory bodied 120's; there were also 58RH drive cars. It is believed that only 50 have survived of the original 242.
This car was also raced early on, after it was delivered by Max Hoffman to a dealer in St. Louis, Missouri. Hoffman was responsible for bringing many great marques to the States. It was originally delivered to a Mr. Henry Heier of Imperial, Missouri, who then campaigned it in Sports Car Club of America events. The Jaguar Historic Trust has confirmed all of this car's early and authentic history. This cars current existence was previously unknown and was presumed lost by Jaguar historians until it's recent discovery in a barn.
The car is in excellent condition with all of it's original alloy body panels intact since built in Coventry. There is no rust or rot anywhere, & engine was running when parked & can easily be gotten running again. Even the five original dated disc wheels are present with"made in England" stampings. All removed parts also remain with the car as near as I can tell. The prior owner meant to restore it but sadly never had the means, while cherishing and preserving it for the last forty years.
This car DOES NOT have the original engine, as it was SCCA raced early on in the states, & lost the original engine for some reason. The later one now in it, obviously, does not have the early carbs & cam cover bolts. The Dayton wire wheels, were obviously a later addition, with the 5 original dated disc wheels included, as stated in the listing. Have confirmed, that transmission is original & # matches chassis plate. "JH 1875" Top of Transmission.

Odd that Max Hoffman is listed as listed as the distributor for a car going to Saint Louis, Missouri. Hoffman was the distributor for dealers east of the Mississippi river and Charles Hornburg, Los Angeles, CA was the distributor for cars going to dealers west of the Mississippi. Saint Louis is generally considered to be west of the Mississippi. My alloy car #670069 was delivered by Hornburg to the Saint Louis dealer Clayrich Motors.

Indeed, factory records say the car was sold through Hornburg, LA, not Hoffman (NY). There are also a lot more surviving alloy cars than 50. I would say at least 150 of the original 240 (not 242).

This XK 120 Roadster left the Coventry plant on April 12. of 1950 and was delivered via Clayrich Motors in St. Louis to its first owner Henry C. Heier. According to available information Heier used the car in various SCAA races. After about 40 years of service the car was offered as a barn find in Chicago in 2010. It was in a well-preserved condition at that time. The completely original aluminum body was almost without corrosion (photos available). An European collector bought the car and between 2014 and 2017 a complete "frame-off" restoration including renewal of the wooden frame was carried out to the highest standards. The works are extensively photo-documented. A Jaguar certificate is on hand.
