Thanks Peter - it really does exist, I've owned it for many years and hope to be starting the restoration soon. It's currently with CKL Developments in East Sussex, UK.

This 1950 Jaguar XK120 roadster is one of approximately 240 aluminum-bodied examples manufactured by Jaguar between 1948 and 1950, of which about 180 were left-hand drive. The car was manufactured in December 1949 and dispatched to Import Motors of Denver, Colorado in January 1950. Said to have been acquired by the seller’s late father in the early 1960s, the car features a 3.4-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle has not been started or driven since the late 1960s. This non-running alloy XK120 project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the late owner’s estate with a replacement canvas soft top, miscellaneous parts, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and an Illinois title in the name of the late owner’s estate.

The car left the factory finished in black, and the aluminum-alloy body was previously refinished in red. Features include a split front bumper, a driver-side mirror, a split windshield, and an antenna. The finish exhibits blemishes such as flaking paint, corrosion, and fading. In addition, the soft top is torn and separated from the car, and the trunk is dented. The right-side rear bumperette is included in the spare parts along with a replacement soft top.

Red-painted steel wheels wear mixed-brand tires, and the front wheels are equipped with chrome hubcaps. The tires are dry rotted and cracked. Rear wheel spats are included in the sale.

The cabin initially featured Biscuit and Red leather upholstery, which now shows signs of wear, and the passenger seatback is missing. A plaque affixed to the dash commemorates the XK120 being declared the fastest production car in the world in May 1949.

The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a center-mounted instrument panel with a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer displays 17k miles, and true mileage is unknown. Approximately 200 miles are said to have been added under current ownership.

The trunk compartment is rusted, and it contains two spare tires as well as side curtains.

The 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors. The seller states that the engine was last started around 1967.

The car is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission.

Miscellaneous parts will accompany the vehicle. The included used and unused soft tops.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was dispatched to Import Motors in Denver, Colorado on January 13, 1950. The factory black over biscuit and red color scheme plus serial numbers for various components are also documented.

The car is titled under its body number—F1087—rather than its chassis number, which is 670066.

    Sold for $121,900 on 9/11/22
