Chassis number 670019, the 19th left hand drive car built is one of the very first cars from the first batch of 120s manufactured in 1949. Originally dispatched to America in 1949 it was destined to remain for quite some years until it was purchased by the vendor. Therefore this most desirable matching numbers automobile has had only two owners from new.

By the 1990s the significance and rarity of these early cars had been recognised and 670019 was subject to a comprehensive rebuild by leading restorers in Germany.

Beautifully finished in Opalescent blue with matching two tone blue leather upholstery this historic car also is supplied with a full set of weather equipment.

This a rare opportunity to acquire one of the earliest surviving examples of the legendary and ground breaking XK 120 in this condition, a model that remains one of the best and most popular all round sports cars of the early post war era.

Constructed on October 28, 1949, at the time that it left Coventry, this alloy-bodied XK120 Roadster was only the 19th example built. Even more remarkable is the fact that it was one of only 17 XK120s built that month!

Finished in Pastel Blue with a two-tone blue interior, the left hand-drive Jaguar was destined for export and was delivered new to Hoffman Motors in New York City. From there, the Jaguar was sold in early 1950 to its first owner, Ralph Mason Sr. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Amazingly, Mr. Mason retained his prized sports car until his passing in the early 1990s, by which time the car had fallen into a state of disrepair. When it was discovered, it was a shock to many Jaguar enthusiasts – few knew of the car’s existence and the 1988 XK 120 registry contained no entry for this early alloy-bodied roadster.

The second owner, Christian Nannen of Germany, purchased the car from Mr. Mason’s widow and returned it to Europe. Between 1992 and 1994, a complete restoration was performed by Egon Weber, a Hamburg-based Jaguar and Aston Martin Specialist. All the work that took place adhered to strict factory specifications and every decision was made with the aim of returning the car to its original appearance.

The next owner was Vic Jacobs of Dayton, Ohio, who retained the car until his recent passing. The current owner is a knowledgeable restorer who acquired the car after having been impressed with the overall quality of the Jaguar and taken with its fascinating history of long-term, dedicated ownership.

This splendid 120 is offered with a substantial documentation file that is a testament to the meticulous care and detail that went into reviving this iconic Jaguar. It includes a Heritage Trust Certificate, original titles, importation and transport documents, restoration receipts and many photos of the car in its “as discovered” condition. Additionally, the car is complete with side curtains, an original jack and complete tool roll as well as factory literature. To date, this marvelous car is still equipped with its original engine, body panels and gearbox. As many early 120s did not survive the racing careers they were destined for, it has become very difficult to find a correct, genuine example such as this.

The alloy-bodied XK120s are quickly becoming one of the most sought-after post-war sports cars of the era and rightly so. They are eligible for countless driving events and the most prestigious concours, and their beautiful, sleek lines are very appealing to the beholder.
