Car # 838000 shows as having a 'T' on the VIN. but does it have it on the data plate or Heritage certificate?

An article appeared in XK Gazette in Oct 2000 (p8/9) written by the owner. He reported that the chassis number stamped on the data plate had a T prefix, but the chassis itself was stamped with an S prefix. Philip Porter's book Original Jaguar XK (p374) confirms that this was the first DHC LHD to have the T prefix. It looks like the factory was in the process of changing from the S prefix to T prefix when this one was built.
