Ebay item 8/14/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1959-Jaguar-XK150S-OTS-Stunning-Mechanically-Perfect-/22 ...
Current bid $10,099 reserve not met, 8 bids 5 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Santa Barbara, California.

Sellers description:
Offered for sale is a rare, exceptional, numbers matching and factory correct example of the much-vaunted Jaguar XK150S Roadster. With it's legendary Le Mans heritage and boasting 250 horsepower with a 0-60 time of 7.8 seconds, very few cars of its day were even remotely comparable in terms of performance, a point that becomes very clear even today upon getting behind the wheel. This car is set up remarkably, coming fresh from the collection of a noted enthusiast with more than a dozen Pebble Beach showings under his belt. The car was restored early in the decade and later prepared to be used a touring class car, used for that purpose at Pebble in 2008. As you'd expect, the car has always been properly cared for, both in terms of how it has been garaged and maintained. Roy Miller, a vintage British car mechanic of 40+ years and a Pebble Beach Preservation Class Judge, remarked upon going through the car that it needed nothing - the finest mechanical example he'd ever come across. This truly is a special Roadster.

The car's earlier restoration has held up quite well, the Old English White finish marred only by minimal imperfections, none of which appear in any of the pictures. The car is free of dings, the panel fit is exceptional and the car is completely rust-free, bondo-free and shows absolutely no evidence of any accidents or repair work. All of the glass and rubber is excellent and all of the brightwork is fantastic. The knock-off wire wheels are beautiful and they're wrapped in correct Firestone tires with plenty of remaining tread.

The car's interior is equally clean, the red leather seats and carpets free of tears, noticeable wear or discoloration. All of the interior panels and dash are perfect and the car comes with a center mounted working period Blaupunkt radio. The car comes with a flawless full tonneau cover and the canvas soft top - hardly ever used - is free of tears or wear marks and has a clear rear window. The trunk is perfect, a full spare wire wheel housed beneath it.

As mentioned above, the car is mechanically fantastic. Starting easily without any smoke or hesitation and idling consistently, the inline six pulls strongly and smoothly through all of the gears with excellent compression. The transmission is perfect and overdrive works flawlessly. Unlike so many XKs, the car doesn't overheat and rightly is a touring car - it performed beautifully on a recent 100+ mile jaunt up into Santa Barbara's wine country (in 85 degree heat). The car is a joy to drive, both for its owner and other drivers and pedestrians. It never fails to garner attention and requests to take pictures.

This is an excellent opportunity at a very special example of an XK150S Roadster. It's fantastic on the road and presents beautifully, but it's not a show car and can be truly enjoyed rather than relegated to the garage and trailers on the way to shows - a true proper gentleman's sports car.

- XK roadster in remarkable condition
- Known car
- Two owners from new

This Jaguar roadster from 1959 was therefore one of the first generation of the XK150, equipped with a 3.4-litre 250 bhp SAE engine, with three SU HD8 carburettors and Straight Port cylinder head. The car also benefits from a stronger clutch and limited slip differential. It was bought in California by its second and current owner, Mr Kennedy, in 1968, some 45 years ago. He originally used it as a daily driver, before deciding, a year later, to transform it into the best XK in the world ! The odometer then read 80,000 miles. Following a restoration that took some four years to complete, the owner set about entering the car in all the most prestigious events, winning numerous awards including Best XK in the USA. Not satisfied with beating the competition on one side of the Atlantic, he decided to send his car to Europe where the car shone once again, winning five awards in Britain, including Best XK at Beaulieu. This car is very well known in XK circles and has had much coverage in the motoring press. Today, the car has covered 107,000 miles and remains in perfect condition. If there is only one...
