Full engine inspection and overhaul just completed. This is the best original example we have owned in 30 years.
1959 XK150 3.8 S Drophead RHD
This extremely rare 1959 XK150 S, 3.8 Litre Drophead Coupe is one of just 69 produced by Jaguar in right hand drive.
Built in the last days of 1959 it was registered OVL150 and delivered to its first owner, a Lincoln-based company by the name of Jackson Hardware Ltd, just prior to Christmas. The next change of ownership saw the car move to Coventry where it was acquired by Ben Martin in 1964. A little over a year later Mr Martin sold the car to John Ward, who worked for the famous Patrick Collection for many years. During this time the car saw limited, careful use which undoubtedly contributed to its excellent state of preservation. After Martin's death in 1980 the car was retained by the museum until it was sold in 1994 to Bernie Ecclestone who kept it for the next two years as part of his private collection. In 1996 the car moved, via a Mr Neville Johnson, to Mr David Stanley who maintained the Jaguar regardless of cost. Recently acquired by JD Classics from its last owner this fabulous XK150 still retains a totally original interior including irreplaceable original carpets and original leather seats. The paint was renewed (to the factory original Mist Grey) during a sensitive and partial restoration in 2004 which also involved a professional engine overhaul. Accordingly the car presents beautifully with a wonderful patina to the interior, excellent paintwork and exceptional mechanicals. It comes with a full history and a comprehensive photo album detailing the engine rebuild and re-paint. As such it provides an excellent opportunity to acquire an original matching numbers UK supplied car with a genuine mileage of 49000 miles from new and limited number of owners, which included Bernie Ecclestone. It features 16'' Chromed Wire Wheels, factory limited slip differential, 4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive, original tool roll and recent new hood in French Grey. Possibly one of the best factory original specification XK150 S Drophead Coupes. Please contact us for further details.
