This vehicle was owned in 1959/60 by John Moore of Shelsley Beauchamp, worcestershire, where I was working as a farm student. JM was a fruit, hops and livestock farmer and well-known in the motorsports scene living in the Teme valley opposite the Shelsley Walsh hillclimb. Whilst in Australia in 1966 I was amazed to find a sheet-music songbook by a popgroup of that time ( The Seekers? New Seekers?) who were draping themselves all over this vehicle with guitars with other photos inside the book. I have been looking out for TUY 917 ever since and would be fascinated to hear of it's career since 1960

I owned this car for about four years from 1961 to 1965 and traded it in for an XK150 S 3.8 litres at HR Owen & Co, Melton Court, Kensington, London. I have never heard of the car since, maybe it has gone abroad or is just waiting in a barn somewhere. I did a few sprints and speed trials and some long distance European touring taking in a few circuits of Nurburgring and Spa.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
