This 1960 XK150 3.8 is a fixed-head coupe that was built in November 1960, and it spent time in Oregon and Colorado before being acquired by the seller in 1988. Finished in black over red leather, it is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 16″ wire-spoke wheels, disc brakes, twin SU carburetors, a dual exhaust, fender-mounted mirrors, and a luggage rack. The car is said to have been stored since 1990, and light recommissioning work carried out in 2022 reportedly included fluid changes and servicing of the clutch, carburetors, and brakes along with the fuel and ignition systems. This XK150 is now offered at no reserve with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, recent service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car was finished in black from the factory and is said to have received a partial repaint under prior ownership. Equipment includes chrome bumpers with overriders, fender-mounted mirrors, mesh headlight grilles, wing windows, a chrome luggage rack, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes bubbling, chipped, and scratched paint as well as pitting in the chrome trim, worn door hinges, a scratch in the windshield, and dents on the roof and left rear fender.
Silver-painted 16″ knock-off wire wheels wear older 185-series Michelin X tires, and a spare wheel and tire are stored in the trunk. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs. The brake fluid reservoir and master cylinder were replaced in 2022 along with the pads, hoses, and a caliper-piston assembly.
The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in red leather with a matching dashboard, carpets, and door panels. Appointments include a four-spoke steering wheel, front lap belts, a locking glove box, a chrome passenger-side grab handle, and pop-out rear quarter windows. The seller notes faded and worn carpet, an inoperative clock, cracked and torn leather upholstery, and a worn headliner. The heater was bypassed and a manual choke was installed under prior ownership.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six was factory rated at 220 horsepower and features twin three-into-one exhaust manifolds feeding a dual exhaust system. Work in 2022 is said to have included overhauls of the twin SU carburetors, cleaning of the fuel tank, and oil and coolant changes along with replacement of the following components:
fuel tank level sending unit
fuel pump, filter, and vent hose
brass fuel cap and damper assembly
spark plugs & ignition condenser, points, wires, and boots
battery, voltage regulator
fan belt, coolant hoses
The windshield washer and fluid bottle are missing.
The block is stamped with engine number VA2241-8, which matches that shown on the cylinder head, manufacturer’s plate, and Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. A clutch hose and the master and slave cylinders were replaced in 2022, and the clutch is said to slip in fourth gear when driving uphill.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate states that the car is one of the last five built in this body style, and it lists factory colors and serial numbers, a production date of November 16, 1960, and original ownership in Oregon.
Parts receipts for the recent recommissioning work are included in the sale.
