    Ebay item 1/21/16
    www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XK-Fixed-head-coupe-/301853080712
Current bid US $16,600 reserve not met 15 bids 6 days left in auction. Seller lucaslament, 77k miles.

    Sellers description:
This is a well loved example of a rare 3.8 liter overdrive version of Jaguar's XK 150 Coupe that lives in a hanger. It is a combination of original and restored as needed condition. It wears an older excellent repaint of BRG over a tan interior and redone leather seats and carpets. It has 77770 original miles and runs extremely well. To my knowledge, it has no needs at this time, although the heater is not hooked up. It is never driven in weather where needed. It has never had rust or corrosion while under the care of it's 4 owners. This Jag is regularly exercised and maintained. The car is stored about an hour from Denver International Airport.

Current bid US $22,100 reserve not met 7 bids 9 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Santa Barbara, California, seller sb_vintagecars, 77k miles. Previous auction ended early by seller.

    Sellers description:
Offered for sale is a gorgeous, very original, entirely numbers matching, mechanically strong, final production year 1961 Jaguar XK150 3.8L SE FHC (Special Equipment, Fixed Head Coupe) with a manual transmission and overdrive. Verified by its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, the car is finished in desirable and factory correct British Racing Green over a beige interior, rounding out what is arguably one of the best-equipped, most attractively finished XK150 Fixed Head Coupes ever produced. Always driven sparingly and properly maintained and garaged, the car is believed to have traveled a mere 77k original miles in its 55+ years of service, evidenced by its gorgeous, entirely honest original condition.

    Chassis Number.........................S847033DN
    Engine/Head Number................VA2208-9
    Body Number.............................J11392
    Gearbox Number........................JLS46787JS

The "S" prefix in the chassis number confirms that it left the factory outfitted with the Special Equipment package, comprised of the B Type cylinder head with 9:1 compression, wire spoke wheels and dual exhaust pipes. The "DN" suffix to the chassis number denotes the optional overdrive fitted to the standard transmission. Each of the above numbers is confirmed on the corresponding component, as well as the car's data plate and Heritage Certificate.

The car was sold new to Mr. Hugh A. McDonald, a U.S. Army Officer from South Carolina. He would eventually be stationed in Europe in the late 1960s, having the car shipped over with him for a time before resettling in northwest Illinois in 1969. The following year the car was sold to a Mr. Ron Guthrie of Rock Island, IL, who would enjoy ownership of the car for more than 26 years. In addition to consistent maintenance throughout his stewardship, Mr. Guthrie commissioned cosmetic refurbishment as necessary, having the car repainted in the original color at some point in the 1990s and having new Wilton wool carpets, leather seat covers and a new headliner installed, all purchased on one of his trips to England. He also purchased new wire wheels with stainless steel spokes and nipples, as well as new splined hubs and knock-offs.

In 1997, with the car having accrued slightly more than 68k miles, Mr. Guthrie sold it to a Mr. Frank Ege of Moline, IL. During his ownership, Mr. Ege exacted quite a few repairs and improvements including (but not limited to): re-porcelained exhaust manifolds reinstalled with new studs and stainless nuts, re-cored radiator with new upper and lower fan shrouds installed, new rear springs and rear shock absorbers, brake cylinders sleeved with brass and new seal kits, new brake pads installed, master cylinder sleeved with stainless steel liner and a new rebuilt spring, rebuilt front suspension with new upper and lower ball joints, new grease seals on the wheel hubs and all new rubber bushings, rebuilt fuel sending unit, rebuilt carburetors with new shafts, new ignition wires and ignition wire carrier, fully re-worked door hinges, re-chromed original bumpers and over riders reassembled with new welting and stainless steel hardware, a fully re-worked steering column and new Avon steel belted V-rated tires and tubes.

Mr. Ege would put roughly 8,500 additional miles on the car during his seven years of ownership before selling it in 2004 to a Mr. Roger Warren of Fort Collins, CO, where it would remain in his collection for the ensuing twelve years before we acquired the car earlier this winter with 77k original miles. Throughout its 55+ years of service, the car's four owners have always ensured it was garaged and well maintained, never left to sit idle and degrade. It's therefore never been restored, merely refurbished as necessary and lovingly kept in fine condition. It was never subjected to winters or the elements, has no evidence of any accident damage and retains an incredibly solid and sound original undercarriage.

As the pictures show, the second owner's freshening efforts have help up quite well and the car remains absolutely gorgeous. While having its share of minor imperfections (each too insignificant to appear in the photos), the factory correct British Racing Green finish is deep and lustrous, perfectly offset by the clean beige interior. The body is straight, exhibiting no evidence of any accident damage and retaining exceptional, consistent panel fits and gaps. The glass and chrome are in excellent condition and, as the recipient of proper care and storage, the frame, rocker panels and the rest of the undercarriage all remain in excellent original condition, showing no evidence of harmful rust or sloppy repairs. A condition mirrored in the trunk and engine compartment, it tells the story of a remarkably untouched, extremely original example that has always lived a charmed life. The car comes with an owner's manual, tool kit, original spare wire wheel and changing tools, functional retro-style radio and the aforementioned JDHT Heritage Certificate.

The car is also excellent mechanically, the original, numbers matching, 220 bhp, 3.8L engine (with twin SU Carburetors and uprated uprated 9:1 compression B-type head) starts effortlessly, idles smoothly and consistently and pulls with grin-inducing force through each of the original transmission's gears, augmented by the spectacular roar emitted from the replaced dual stainless steel exhaust. The car drives and brakes straight and true, the suspension is tight and the car is a joy from behind the wheel, whether tooling through town, winding through the canyons or bombing down the highway. These things considered, this lovely example would be ideal for either weekend cruises to local shows or more strenuous touring.

As one of only 656 3.8L XK150 FHCs, this is a truly uncommon opportunity to acquire a gorgeous, very original, final production year example that has all the right things going for it: entirely numbers matching, 3.8L engine, manual transmission with overdrive, Special Equipment package, strong mechanicals, solid undercarriage and desirable, factory correct British Racing Green over beige livery. It would be incredibly difficult to find a similarly stellar original example, so whether in the market as a marque enthusiast or as a seasoned Jaguar collector, this rare and incredible example deserves your serious consideration.

This 1961 Jaguar XK150 is a left-hand-drive, fixed-head coupe that was manufactured on October 21, 1960 and dispatched to the US a week later for distribution through Jaguar Cars in New York. Finished from the factory in British Racing Green over beige leather, the car is powered by its numbers-matching 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six, which is backed by a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The first owner was reportedly a US Army officer from South Carolina, who later shipped the car to Europe while he was posted there and brought it back to Illinois in 1969. The car remained with its second owner in Illinois from 1970 until 1996, and it later moved to Colorado and eventually to Texas. A $14k service was performed by Norwood Auto Italia in 2017 as described below, and approximately 500 miles have since been added. This XK150 is now offered by the selling dealer with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, recent records, an owner’s handbook, two paintings, two key sets, a trickle charger, a copy of Philip Porter’s book on the XK, and a clean Texas title.

The car was built near the end of production for the model, and in the 1990s was repainted in its factory shade of British Racing Green. A single Lucas fog lamp is mounted on the front bumper, and a custom leather bonnet strap has also been added. The lenses, front grille, window glass, and badges are shown up close in the photo gallery below, with the seller noting a few chips and blemishes in the finish.

New wire wheels with stainless steel spokes were installed in the 1990s, along with new splined hubs and knock-offs. The tie rod ends, steering rack boots, and front wheel bearings were replaced in 2017, and a brake fluid flush and four-wheel alignment were also carried out. The XK150 came standard with four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes. This example was fitted with new Wilton wool carpets, leather seat covers, and a headliner in the 1990s. The trunk compartment contains a spare wire wheel, as well as a tool kit, jack, and knock-off hammer.

Smiths instrumentation is mounted in the center of the dash and includes a 6k-rpm tachometer and a 140-mph speedometer. According to the seller, the third owner acquired this XK150 in 1997 with 68k miles and sold it in 2004 after adding about 8,500 miles. The car then went to Colorado for 12 years, and eventually made it to the previous owner in Dallas, Texas in 2016. The odometer now shows 78k miles.

The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six is an SE model with dual SU carburetors. The engine retains its matching-numbers cylinder head, which was delivered with a 9:1 compression ratio according to the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. The four-speed gearbox was rebuilt in 2017, and the car was equipped with overdrive from the factory. Recent compression test results are shown in the gallery.

The following work was completed by Norwood Auto Italia in March 2017, with the associated four-page $14,611 invoice posted in the gallery:

    Engine reseal

Radiator, fan, and fan shroud replaced

New valve cover, oil pan seal, and front main seal

    Crank pulley replaced

    Various fluid changes

    Rebuilt gearbox

New clutch pack, rear crank seal, and differential pinion seal

    New engine and transmission mounts

    Adjust windscreen wipers

Stamping VA2208-9 can be seen on the engine block and cylinder head, and matches both the chassis plate and Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the factory colors, equipment, and manufacturing/delivery dates.

A painting of a BRG XK150 accompanies the sale.

Opening bid US $53,940 reserve not met 0 bids 6 days left in auction seller stlouiscarmuseum, 78k miles, car now said to be in Saint Louis, Missouri. previously Vero Beach, FL.

    Seller's description:

Here at the St. Louis Car Museum we are excited to offer a very unique opportunity to own a final year XK150 Fixed Head Coupe that is beautifully finished exactly as ordered according to the JDHT Certificate in desirable British Racing Green over Beige Leather. In addition, this wonderfully documented example is fitted with an 3.8L DOHC engine and overdrive transmission. The cosmetic restoration on our available classic Jaguar was completed in the early 1990's, where the mechanicals were treated to a full reconditioning in 2017 to include total engine and differential reseal, along with, a rebuilt transmission with new clutch, and much, much more! A very special buy considering this example represents one of only 659 ever produced!

This is a truly beautiful classic that has always been maintained professionally in an as-needed fashion which continues to show today as this rust free specimen continues to be a splendid road going example today! Features include the desirable 220hp 3.8L DOHC Inline 6 fitted with dual SU HD6 carburetors and B-Type 9:1 compression cylinder head along with 4-speed manual transmission with electric overdrive. Additional features include SE Equipment adding the aforementioned modified B-Type head with larger exhaust ports, chrome 60-spoke wire wheels, and front disc brakes. Our 3.8L FHC offered here even has the optional 4-wheel Dunlop 12" disc option to further enhance the braking performance.

Options include Lucas fog lamps, leather bonnet strap, locking gas door, Smiths instrumentation, tinted sun visors, front lap belts, rear jump seats, rear trunk pass-thru door, telescoping steering column, day/night rearview mirror, interior courtesy lamp, passenger assist handle, door map pockets, and Avon Turbo Steel radial tires measuring 185R16. Also included with this wonderful XK150 is a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate #44917 identifying all factory appointment colors and drivetrain continue to match today. An original Jaguar tool roll, matching spare wire wheel and tire, jack, knock-off tools and spinner wrench, oilers, and T-handle to lock the floor covering the spare well.

This remarkably original Jaguar has a well-documented ownership history that began with a US Army officer originally based in South Carolina, who later resided in northwest Illinois through 1969. The vehicle would sell to its second Illinois owner in 1970 and stay in his possession until 1996. Under his possession, the owner commissioned an exterior repaint in mid-1990 with the addition of new chrome stainless steel wire wheels along with new interior appointments sourced directly from England that included seat leathers, headliner, and Wilton carpet throughout the interior. In 1997, this example would then trade hands again with just more than 68k miles on the odometer, to a collector in Moline, IL who cared for the classic for the next 7 years.

This owner made several more improvements to the mechanicals not limited to re-coring the original radiator with new upper and lower fan shrouds, new rear springs and shock absorbers, along with the rebuild of the front suspension, improved the braking system with upgraded stainless steel liners and seal kits, new brake pads, re-porcelained the exhaust manifolds with all new installation hardware, re-chromed the bumpers and over-riders, among other items like wheel bearings, grease seals, stainless steel exhaust system, and carburetor rebuilding just to name a few. The resulting Jaguar was in fine form and received another 8,500 miles to odometer under his ownership being enjoyed at club events and seasonal shows. In 2004 it would sell again, but this time to a collector in Fort Collins, CO who maintained possession for 12 years. The vehicle would then trade hands with approximately 77k miles on the odometer in 2016, eventually landing in the Houston, Texas area.

Once in Texas, the owner would commission Norwood Auto Italia to thoroughly inspect and repair any necessary leaks or recommended items to ensure this worthy Jaguar was ready for confident enjoyment on the road. This inspired the following to be completed in March 2017 and is listed in the provided receipts photos totaling $14,611. The largest of the items was a complete reseal of the entire engine and its components, along with a total overhaul of the original gearbox with a new clutch kit installed. With this service came all new fluids, front end suspension parts, engine mounts, transmission mounts, and more. Additionally, the upholstery was once again renewed with fresh leathers front and back. It was driven and enjoyed through to the mileage shown today at 78,358 miles. An engine compression check completed in November 2019 showed very strong and consistent numbers ranging from 146-152 psi across all cylinders. The body and paintwork continue to show quite well with plenty of luster considering their age, with excellent bright work and chrome. A truly remarkable car overall, both visually and the way it performs on the road! It will make for a rare addition to any Jaguar collection, especially if seeking a very well appointed XK150 Fixed Roof example.
