Classified ad, asking £30,000
Sellers description:
For sale by auction on Saturday 30 August 2014 with Historics at Brooklands, Brooklands Motor Racing Circuit, Weybridge, Surrey.
Despatched from Jaguar car on 8th September 1960 and
shipped to New York, this lefthand drive XK150 has recently
returned to the UK from California. Chassis number S838929 is
within the last 100 to be manufactured and as such defines this as
being a rare and desirable example. Having been stood for many
years, this Jaguar is in need of total restoration. The engine we
are advised turns freely, although has not run for a very long
time. Restoration projects come in all shapes, sizes and marques,
this one is well worth completing due to the prestige of owning one
of the very last Jaguar XK150's ever to leave Browns
Lane.

Car now offered at:
vandp.net/sales/2015/1960-jaguar-xk150-3-8-litre-se-drophead-coupe-rhd
Seller's description:
1960 Jaguar XK150 3.8 Litre Overdrive SE Drophead Coupe RHD.
Chassis number: S838929
Registration number: 844UYM
Price: £220,000
Fresh from a nut & bolt restoration with incredible attention to detail. Without doubt this is the best we have ever seen. It was restored without regard to expense & is utterly stunning. I always hesitate to use the phrase "Best in the World", but this one may very well be it.
Despatched from Jaguar cars on 8th September 1960 and shipped to New York, this originally left hand drive matching numbers XK150 has sourced from California. Chassis number S838929 is a genuine 3.8 litre SE example and is within the last 100 to be manufactured and as such defines this as being a rare and desirable. Having been stood for many years, this Jaguar was in need of total restoration which has now been completed after 5 years painstaking work. The car was solid & rust free having resided in sunny California climes before being located after an exhaustive search to begin the project.
Attention was given to making it as modern day driveable as possible so the following modifications were incorporated into the car during the restoration.
Hydraulic power steering
Upgraded servo
Four pot front calipers - aluminium
Aluminium fuel tank
Aluminium radiator
Aluminium expansion tank
Electronic operation cooling fan
Full leather trim
LED bulbs in all gauges
Took kit
Electronic ignition
Wooden center dashboard - high gloss
Wooden Motolita steering wheel - high gloss to match dashboard
Michelin Pilot X tyres
Stainless steelexhaust
K&N air filter
High compression pistons
Unleaded petrol cylinder head
High flow oil pump.
We rarely use the words "Best in the world" but for sure this has to ba a contender. We sold this car 3 years ago to the current owner who kept it in his heated garage & has put just a few hundered running in miles on the car. It was purchased for £220,000 more to be admired then used & eyesight issues now dictate the need to sell it.
