Auction description:
Lot : 41
1958 Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe
Estimate: NOT SOLD
Mileage: 11213
Colour: Cotswold Blue
Trim Colour: Grey
Chassis No: S837150
Engine No: V12178
Registration No: XSY 611
M.O.T: June 2009
According to its quoted chassis number this particular example began life as a left-hand drive drophead coupe. Reportedly "brought back to the UK approximately ten years ago", 'XSY 611' is further understood to have "covered 11,000 miles since the completion of a 'ground-up' restoration". As well as conversion to right-hand drive, work included the fitment of a walnut dashboard and door cappings (though, the original padded leather items have been retained). Said to have been treated to "a repaint and new clutch last year", the 3.4 litre manual car rides on chrome wire wheels shod with fresh Avon crossply tyres. Apparently "awarded best in class in the 'Pride and Joy' category at a Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club meeting last month (June 2008)", this handsome XK150 is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until June 2009.

I am 99% sure this is a misread and the correct number is S834150. That would certainly fit with the
engine number. The build date would then be 1957 June

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
