This beautiful Jaguar has a very rare factory option: a 3-speed automatic transmission. This car represents the last model year of the XK150, and by the time Jaguar built this XK150 in 1961, the XK150 series was at its peak mechanically and visually. This XK150 left the factory with the largest engine ever available in an XK150: a "special equipment" 3.8 Litre, 220 bhp, six-cylinder in line configuration with twin overhead cam shaft and standard B-type twin carburetors. The car has spent all its life in California. It was originally sold on October 14,1960 in Santa Barbara, California with the original Jaguar guarantee certificate, which is in the car along with original complete tool kit in car.

This 1961 Jaguar XK 150 was purchased at Barrett-Jackson by my family. We quickly realized that it was not "correct" in many ways. First, it did not have the Original Borg-Warner transmission anymore; it was replaced with a XJ-6 transmission. The body needed work, the engine was a mess (non-original block but original head), the coolant system was a disaster, and so on and so on.

We began a rotisserie restoration that developed into a Jaguar Hot Rod Coupe.

As you can see we have modified quite a bit:

Welded rear quarters, Teardrop gas door, Shaved door handles, Shaved trunk, smoothed good with removed chrome, removed chrome on trunk, removed lower fender lights, removed bumper overriders, removed both front and rear badge, removed screw over top fender turn signals, and modified front and rear bumpers for both removal of bumper bolts and also fit.

We added a full Focal and JL sound system with a 4.3" touch screen in the dash. It is centered between the spedo and tach. We trimmed it out in tinted Plexiglas to make it look like another gauge. The system includes 2 10" JL Subs mounted where the rear "seats" would have been, along with 2 sets of component Focal Speakers. All powered by a Memphis Audio amp. The engine has been rebuilt and blueprinted with 2" carbs and a lightened flywheel. a BMW Spec 5-Speed Transmission has been mounted to it. Custom 100% Stainless exhaust system has been mounted to the car. Paint and Body Work: Jim Remick, of Remick Custom Paint in Akron, OH, has been painting our cars for YEARS. He has completely painted our 1954, done work on our 1965 and 1962, and helped with misc paint work needed here and there. Jim has even made house calls, and been there after what we thought were classic car disasters. He is a true artist. Jim hand picked and custom made this paint for the shape of the car. This has been a great project so far, and will hopefully be completed for the show season 2011 if not sooner. It always seems there are other projects that get in the way…

Various parts were also sourced through Classic Showcase in Oceanside, CA. Tom's facility is Oceanside is absolutely one of the premier Jaguar restoration facilities in the country. The Series II seats were purchased from Classic Showcase after they were restored. Our local interior shop covered them with matching leather.
