Left hand drive. This fully matching numbers car with factory overdrive is, we are told, an original California black plate automobile (June 1960) and has spent its life in California and Arizona. According to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate this XK150 was built in June 1959 and left the factory in July 1959 destined for Jaguar Cars, New York at which time it was painted cream with red leather upholstery. Some years ago a restoration was commenced in central Arizona. Quite recently the car came into the care of a great Jaguar enthusiast and collector who is a South West Director of JCNA (Jaguar Cars of North America) and a multiple championship concours winner with his E-types. He decided to complete the restoration to his very own high exacting standards and has had the car repainted, new upholstery fitted and re-done the chrome work. At the time of cataloguing this XK150 had a recorded mileage of 41,620, believed to be from new. While the owner feels that, with the addition of a full tool roll, this stunning Jaguar would probably score in the very high 90s in a JCNA Concours he points out it would also be an ideal entry to many of the magnificent touring events around the country. Seller's description:

1960 Jaguar XK 150 3.4 Fixed Head Coupe fully restored in 2002 and driven less than 100 miles since. I purchased it last winter at the Mecum auction and subsequently spent over $19,000 in service along with a $1,300 detail which included ceramic coating. I also upgraded the transmission to a getrag 5 speed (car includes the original trans). 

My intent was to use this car for the fall winter touring season but my dream 356 came available and now I need to make room. 

I would best describe this car as a concourse restoration which has mellowed very well since no one drove it. The car is in the Christie's Pebble Beach 2002 Catalog noting the same miles it has today and exceptional restoration by the head of the SW JCNA. It goes further to describe it as show quality based on a numbers matching California/AZ car originally Cream with Red Interior. I have observed nothing to the contrary, the car is authentic, straight and runs/drives extremely well.

Trim parts appear to be restored originals, not reproductions. Living in AZ I attend all the auctions and I look at a lot of Jaguars, and this car's GAPS and general body is exceptional. The chrome is in excellent shape with only the grill and original rear view mirrors showing age. The interior is stunning with fine wool carpets, the headliner is stunning, the seats have barely been used so they are comfortable with no signs of wear or compression of the foam. The dash is like new, with no discoloration in the gauges or controls. The only fault I can find is the leather portion of the dash on the passenger size is a little puffed for lack of better term. The paint work was very well prepared for the finish, no cracking anywhere. I do see little things in the paint from underneath the finish but it needs to be seen in LED shop lights to spot them. I have pointed out the three issues I see with the paint in photos, but for a 20 year old finish it's remarkable with deep shine. The chrome wires are pristine and I have a set of wide white Firestone bias ply's which come with. I installed 5 new Pirellis which have a vintage look with better performance. 

The restoration was a frame off and the underside shows only minor wear and dirt, I did not detail the underside this is how it came to me. There are no stone chips, no scratches, no nicks in the windshield, and all the side glass is original and pristine. The spare has a new Pirelli, jack, lube, and jack handle, it is missing the tool roll (noted in the 2002 auction catalog)

This 1960 Jaguar XK150 fixed-head coupe was completed on June 1, 1959 and distributed in the US by Jaguar Cars of New York, after which it reportedly spent its life in California and Arizona. It was acquired as an unfinished project by a JCNA regional director who completed a restoration around 2002. The car is finished in black over tan leather, and power is from a numbers-matching 3.4L inline-six that was mated to a Getrag five-speed manual transmission following the seller’s acquisition in 2019. Additional work in 2019 included replacing the brake master cylinder, clutch master and slave cylinders, cooling hoses, tires, and more as outlined below. This XK150 FHC is now offered with its removed four-speed manual transmission, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, an owner’s manual, recent invoices, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

Originally finished in Cream, the body received a repaint in its current shade of black during a restoration that was carried out in the early 2000s. The brightwork was also refreshed at that time, and is shown up close in the photo gallery below along with the finish and lenses.

Chrome 16” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and wear Pirelli Corsa tires that were mounted in 2019. The XK150 model was equipped with servo-assisted Dunlop disc brakes front and rear as standard, and a 2019 brake system refresh on this example included replacing the brake master cylinder and fitting new brake hoses. The handbrake mechanisms were also lubricated and adjusted at that time.

The interior was re-trimmed in 2002 using tan leather in place of the factory red upholstery. Color-keyed wool carpeting lines the footwells and transmission tunnel and is complemented by a matching wool headliner. Additional features include a four-spoke steering wheel with an adjustable column, a roof-mounted rear-view mirror, and tan Hardura trunk lining. The seller notes puffiness in an area of the leather dash trim on the passenger side.

Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, with a five-digit odometer showing 42k miles. Fewer than 1k miles have been added since the restoration, and around 300 miles have been covered since the seller’s purchase.

The 3.4L XK inline-six features twin SU carburetors and is mated to a BMW-sourced Getrag five-speed manual transmission that was added in 2019. Additional service carried out in July 2019 by British Automotive Repair in Scottsdale, Arizona included replacing the clutch master and slave cylinders, repairing a crack in the upper radiator inlet, replacing coolant hoses, installing a new steering flex disc, changing the differential fluid, and lubricating various door and trunk mechanisms. Number V6994-8 is stamped on the cylinder head as well as on the engine block matches the serial listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. The suspension system features hydraulic shock absorbers all around, with an independent torsion bar arrangement up front and a leaf-sprung live-axle at the rear.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists the original colors, component numbers, and other production information. The car was originally equipped with a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, and the removed gearbox is included in the sale. The seller notes the tool roll is missing, though a full-size spare, a jack, and an owner’s manual are included.
