Car to be at RM auction 1/10
www.rmauctions.com/FeatureCars.cfm
Auction description:
Chassis No. S835151
Estimate: $50,000-$60,000 US
To be auctioned on Thursday, January 21, 2010
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The subject of a frame-off professional nut-and-bolt restoration, this XK150 coupe has been modestly upgraded for touring enjoyment. It has been retrofitted with air conditioning with accompanying alternator and power steering. The stainless steel exhaust will last for many years to come, and Lucas Flamethrower driving lights make nighttime motoring a pleasure.
The restoration was performed in 1998 by BMC Classics of New Smyrna Beach, Florida on a solid 48,000-mile car. Driven just 4,000 miles since the total mechanical and body rebuild, it still shows as new. Brilliant in red with a biscuit leather interior, it has a particularly outstanding wood veneer dash panel. It runs and drives extremely well and, thanks to the convenience upgrades, is a pleasure to drive. XK150s are among the most underappreciated Jaguars. This car represents a chance to acquire quality value in the last of the pre-E-Type XKs.

The subject of a frame-off restoration by BMC Classics of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, this XK150 coupe has been modestly upgraded for touring enjoyment, yet retains its matching numbers engine (block and head). It has been retrofitted with air conditioning, an alternator in place of the generator, an electric radiator fan, and power steering. The upgraded stainless steel exhaust will last for many years to come, and Lucas Flamethrower driving lights make nighttime motoring a pleasure.
The restoration was performed in 1998 on a straight, solid, and dry car showing just 48,000 miles at the time. Having completed just 4,000 miles since the restoration, it still presents very well with high quality paint of straight panels, very nice chrome, and soft leather. Brilliant in red with a biscuit leather interior, it has a particularly outstanding wood veneer dash panel. Under the current ownership period more recent work to the brake and fuel system was performed by Coventry Cars of San Diego. At this time it starts easily, runs extremely well and, thanks to the convenience upgrades, is a pleasure to drive.
Cosmetically, the car is best described as a very nice driver. The paint, interior, engine bay, trunk, and undercarriage all present well, and are free of major flaws, but are not restored to national show standards.
