Nicely presented 1957 Jaguar XK150 - 3.4 litre, 4spd manual gearbox (no OD) in Olde English White, comes with Jaguar Heritage certificate that verifies matching chassis and engine numbers from production. The car was manufactured as LHD, in September 1957 and dispatched in October 1957 to New York and later sold to the first owner in Los Angeles (info from Jaguar heritage certificate) returning to the UK in 1988/89 from Texas, was converted to RHD, resprayed “Olde English White” and totally re-upholstered by Marksdanes Restorations Limited in Somerset UK. In July 1992 the car was purchased from Marsdanes Restorations Ltd by an Australian with the plan to bring the car back to Australia, so seat belts were fitted, the rear axle rebuilt, an electric fan fitted in front of the radiator, wax oiled throughout, other minor items and a full service. The car was taken to The Netherlands, the owner’s base at the time, where it was garaged and only used on “sunny days” and registration was kept British . She was featured in the Bromley Pageant magazine in 1993, visited Domington Park race track in 1998 for the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the XK engine. The Jaguar was shipped to Australia in late 2001 and registered in Queensland and finally ended up in Melbourne Victoria. In 2018 the car was purchased by the present owner from Dutton Garage - Melbourne (who had acquired it from a deceased estate) and was shipped to New Zealand.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
