This was built in 1957 (August) No doubt the Italian special body explains the delay in registering the car in USA

Zagato Jaguar XK 140 & XK 150 S.E. Coupe

Zagato built three similar bodies on the chassis of the Jaguar XK140 & XK150.

It started with the Jaguar XK140 pictured here in dark green with fully suede interior. She was commissioned by Italian dealer Guido Modiano who had damaged his car in a major accident when the car was relatively new. Being a personal friend of Mr. Zagato, he inquired about simply rebodying the car rather than repairing it. A deal was struck, as Zagato hoped he could sell Jaguar on the idea of a limited run of cars. Jaguar indeed showed this finished car on its own stand at the 1957 Paris Salon, but only two more cars were built, both of them Jaguar XK150s, which were slightly wider.

In 1958, the first XK150 example by Zagato was presented at the Geneva Auto Show. A brochure was printed, which indicates that they indeed intended to produce this car more than once, but it never came to a series production. The red '58 XK150 S.E. is considered to be lost.

However, in 1960 Zagato displayed another XK150 S.E. with a different radiator frame and painted in black (chassis # S834369). The car was purchased by an American gentleman in the mid-sixties, who had traded his XK140 for it. At that time the '60 Zagato XK150 S.E. was then painted beige, later white and finally musterd yellow. The car has been in the family since. It currently is in a dismantled state, but the owner is planning a ground up restoration in a few years.
