This Jaguar is one of the only seven XK 150 OTS Roadster delivered new to France on April 14th in 1959. It is signal red with black interior, which are both original colors, and features chromed wire wheels. The current owner, which is the 3rd owner of the vehicle, purchased it in 1987 and performed a total of 110,000 km since 1988, when a first total restoration was done. The chassis number is S834361. In 1995 the original motor was replaced by a 3,8L S (3 carburetors) and electronic ignition and an oil cooler were fitted. He applied a second restoration in 2001, when a soft top, upholstery, paint, engine, gearbox and overdrive where completely renewed. Up to now 45,000 km have been done with the new motor. 10,000 km ago the rear axle has been renewed. The front brakes have been replaced by big 3 piston type ones. This special XK 150 OTS is shown in the well know books "Fantastic Jaguars" by Nombel and B. Viart and "Jaguar Sport et Tradition" by B. Viart with the registration plate 150 RQ 16. The concourse condition Jaguar is available in the south west of France.

Surely 1958 not 55

Is this a conversion?? the number is for a Fixed Head although the blurb is specific

A really interesting car. Built 1957 August with a Fixed Head number as a chassis only (see Philip Porter's Original Jaguar XK) its present Roadster body supplied by the factory dates from July/August 1959

Did it sell in 2006 and does any member know if it is still in France ?

Car appears to still be offered at:
www.mhv-car-collection.com/for-sale-jaguar-xk-150.html

Sellers description:
For sale Jaguar XK 150 Open Two Seater (Roadster) 3,4 L.
Date of first registration: April 14th, 1959
Vehicle identification number V.I.N. or chassis number: S834361
Exterior colour: Signal red
Interior colour: Black all leather interior
Jaguar Heritage certificate
Same owner since September 1987, complete restoration by Eric Vigne in 1987/88: body, mechanics and upholstery.
Engine changed for a Jaguar MK X 3.8 L three carbs in 1990 by Jean-Pierre Tessier. The engine was completely redone including:

new high compression ratio pistons,
new liners,
nitrured crankshaft and bobweight conrods,
new valve guides,
new valve springs,
new push rods and push rod guides,
camshaft checked.
oil pump and water pump checked.

The gearbox was also changed for a 4-speed Moss with overdrive in 1990 and the rear axle ratio was replaced by a 3.54.

Original options:
chromed wire wheels (recent)

Particular improvements :
oil radiator,
electronic ignition,
electric fan belt,
4-piston caliper Coopercraft front brakes,
4 gas Spax shock absorbers,
traction bars.

The car's history:
This car is a genuine French car sold by Delecroix in April 1959 and has had only three owners including the current owner who bought it entirely dismantled from the preceding owner who had started to restore it almost 8 years before.
The car was bought "matching numbers".
The car's original engine and gearbox can easily be traced by the current owner who installed them in another Jaguar XK in 1990.
However, driving pleasure is incredibly superior with the 3.8L 3 carbs and the Moss gearbox with overdrive, which is what explains the high value of XK 150 O.T.S 3.8 Litres.

Interestingly, the car has a XK 150 FHC chassis number and its body is registered as a FHC CI (which corresponds to a saloon car) with 4 seats. The body number does however correspond to the chassis number and the car is registered with these two matching numbers by Bernard Viart in his reference book, Sports et Traditions.

A photograph of this well-known car is also featured in the book from the same Bernard Viart, Fantastiques Jaguars, as an illustration for the chapter dedicated to Jaguar XK 150.

This car has ran very numerous rallies: the Coupe des Alpes three times, The Moffat Vintage Car Rally Scotland, The Ireland Rally, and numerous outings with Jaguar owners association.
The car is driven regularly and has done 46,600 miles / 75,000 km since its restoration.
It is sold in perfect condition both in appearance and performance.
The sale will include a one-year parts and labour guarantee for the engine and the gearbox.

Recorded as FHC chassis only, fitted with OTS body F17140 in 1959, though built in August '57. Possibly chassis on display at Delacroix?

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
