    Old Ebay auction from UK:

    Jaguar XK150

The XK 150 made its debut in the spring of 1957, superceeding the XK 140, and although immediately recognisable as a descendant of the original XK 120, the new car appeared significantly wider, the subtle re-styling being very much in keeping with modern trends. The specification now included Dunlop disc brakes all round and the 210 bhp engine, which had previously only been available as a special equipment option, was standardised. Like its forebears, the XK 150 enjoyed considerable success and as before was available in roadster, drophead and fixed head coupé versions. By the time the XK150 ceased production with the advent of the E-Type in the spring of 1961, a total of 9,395 cars had been built.

    Standard 3.4 engine 1958

    VIN S834356DN

This is a Texas import with no rot or filler anywhere.

    The car is LHD

The car has had a rolling restoration of the following:

New Getrag gearbox conversion with overdrive by 'Guy Broad'

Updating front brake conversion by 'Guy Broad'

New brakes and brake pipes all round.

    New petrol tank

    New petrol pump

    Complete new wiring loom.

    Complete new clutch

    New engine mountings

    New washer bottle assembly

    New handbrake pads and cable

    Replacement brake servo

All the suspension bushes and arms were renewed.

Professional Waxoyl rustproof treatment - done by 'Before an After' who people rave about. Personlly I wish I'd done it myself as I think his services are over priced and over-rated.

Bits of the interior is original and therefore lets the car down. The headlining has dropped. That said there are no tears or marks on any of the interior.

The car needs a complete retrim. I have a quote for £3000 all in from a well respected trimmer in Surrey, and this includes insid ethe boot. However you could buy a kit and do it your self for around £2k, but I wouldn't recommend this. The interior is complete and therefore you could just replace the headlining and you have a presentable and useable interior. However I would spend the £3000 and have yourself a lovely car.

All the chrome is in excellent condition.

This is a very fast car and you can easily top 100 on the motorway, the acceleration is good for a classic car, but not great by modern standards, but it is a comfortable drive and the gearbox conversion makes it a drivers car.

I have just spent £1500 on having the car tidied up in terms of car overhaul and distributor overhaul and brakes etc. It now runs like it should and this car will drive anywhere!

    I have a Heritage Trust Certificate 12257

    In Summary

    Good Points

Mechanically the car has been extremely reliable - it has never let me down in the 5 years or so that I have been driving this car.

Not rot and no welding has ever taken place on this car.

    getrag 5 speed gearbox conversion

    Upgraded brakes

It's had loads of suspension and steering work done - albeit 5 years ago when I bought the car.

    The chrome

Parts supply is brilliant for these cars.

    Bad Points

The interior needs doing, or at the very worst the headlining.

LHD - but remember the only people still paying silly prices for these cars are the Europeans!!!

The exhaust only has about 6 months left in it.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
