Ebay item 6/20/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-1958-Jaguar-XK-150-Fixed-Head-Coupe_W0QQitemZ4653 ...
Current bid Cincinnati, 6 bids, 6 days left in auction. 90k miles.

Sellers description:
Here is an opportunity to own a nearly restored 1958 Jaguar XK-150 fixed-head coupe where most of the work has already been done! The carpet on the transmission hump is not yet glued in place until the engine is re-installed.

First off, I must state that this will be a wonderful “driver” although the engine is not the original power plant and the numbers don’t match. It is however the appropriate 3.4 liter engine with 4-speed manual transmission & overdrive. The closed door seams which are decent but not perfect. I bought this car to fully restore, however too many “irons in the fire” force me to sell it in its current nearly completed condition. I have rebuilt about ten Jags over the years and am very familiar with them.

The body was removed from the frame which was thoroughly cleaned and painted. The frame is straight with no signs of accidental damage.

New rear floor panels were welded in.
New wood front floor boards installed.
New spare tire storage area metal panels installed.
The wire wheels were chemically cleaned and repainted.
Four new tires installed.
After the body was reattached, it was painted BRG (British Racing Green.) It’s not a show car paint job, but a decent paint job!
All of the rubber weather-stripping was replaced including new windscreen and back light rubbers.
All new upholstery installed.
New leather seats installed.
New carpet installed
New head-liner installed
Screen wiper rebuilt.
New turn, marker, license, stop & tail light wiring installed.
Basically, the engine still needs to be rebuilt (it turns easily) and the brake system rebuilt; all of the calipers, master cylinder and servo unit are there. It still needs the main wiring harness, an exhaust system, bumper over-riders, the boot lid latch and a starter button. There also may be a few other small parts missing that I am not aware of.
If you are close to Cincinnati and want to see the car in person, I shall be happy to accommodate you.

This is not a show car. If that is your desire, be prepared to spend 60K for it; however this is a wonderful opportunity to get a beautiful nearly restored XK-150 FHC driver at a very reasonable price!

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
