    Owner's Comments / Article Text:
(The Jaguar described as follows, is owned by Karl Hardman, producer/star of the original 1968 film, "Night of the Living Dead.") Hello. I'm Karl Hardman. I have enjoyed this Kitten for over 41 years. She was only about 6,000 miles old when we met. I promised her 'then' caregiver that I would look after her as if she were my own flesh and oil, and that I have! She is in superb health and could easily go for another hundred years or so! The Jaguar 1958 XK150 Roadster is one of the world's great classic cars. TRUE "CLASSIC" cars appreciate in value with each passing year. According to "OLD CARS PRICE GUIDE", April 2003, the following values apply to the 1958 Jaguar XK150 Roadster: #1 condition: $73,000.00 #2 condition: $51,000.00 #3 condition: $29,000.00 For the last few years, in respect to the economy, true classic cars such as the XK150 Jaguar, have proven to be particularly sound investment opportunities. True classics rarely lose value. This particular XK150 Jaguar represents not only a sound investment, but also offers the pride of ownership that most collectors cherish. My Jaguar is not quite a #1 car. She is, however, much better than a #2 car. The numbers match and prove her to be a 1958 model. The original mileage is about 25,500. I have kept her in heated storage since 1962. She has been restored (body-off was not necessary), but fenders and doors were removed so as to do a proper and thorough restoration. The car was media-blasted to ensure a perfect surface for the new finish which is "Old English Ivory" base coat with a "clear coat" final finish. The interior (front compartment to and including the boot), is all new, using Bartlett original equipment materials: New carpeting, new, original red color Red Leather, hardura and vinyl. A new beige, crushed vinyl top was installed. The original Smith Radiomobile AM Radio has also been restored. As to the mechanical restoration, I spared no expense to return the drive train to a new condition. Where possible, mechanical components have been upgraded (taking advantage of new technological advancements and materials), such as in the braking system and the electrical system. The car now carries a single 12-volt battery as opposed to the original (and troublesome), twin, 6-volt batteries. The chrome, while not new, is in excellent condition; bright and beautiful. To conclude, I must say that from my point of view, the excitement embodied in these Jaguars is the thrill of just driving them. On one tour in Minnesota, I met a Dr. Fenley Thorne who put it this way: "There is nothing quite like the 'rush' that comes from smashing upward through the gears and then finally flicking in the overdrive whilst at the edge of your vision, the countryside flashes past." I will also never forget the words of Andre Jordinaire on a tour through the Bayou country. Andre looked at the car, put his hands on either side of his face and in a reverent voice said: "Oh Mon, she is more pretty than the finest plate of fried green tomato."
