Car to be at auction 6/16
Auction description:
Lot 5A
1957 JAGUAR XK150 SE 3.4-LITER ROADSTER
US$ 40,000 - 50,000
£28,000 - 35,000
To be sold without reserve
Greenwich Concours d'Elegance Auction
This Jaguar XK150 SE was born on August 22nd of 1958. The left-hand-drive model was delivered to Jaguar Cars of New York, where it was first sold. According to its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, the car was delivered in a very attractive combination of Pearl Grey over a red interior with a black top.
The roadster has recently emerged from long term ownership on Long Island. Not used for many years, the car ostensibly appears to have been repainted many years ago, and then left unused. Its interior appears to be the original. At some point in its career the Jaguar has had its engine replaced with a period unit, which fits in sequence for these cars, but is from a slightly earlier car.
No Bonhams sale would be complete without a 'barn find', this should keep an enthusiast busy for the summer.

Seller's description :
Sportclassics Uk sells more e types and Jaguar XK?s than anyone in Europe.
1958 Jaguar XK150 3.4 roadster project.
Original colours Pearl Grey with red leather and black roof. Original numbers, engine V5036-8 Chassis 831179, Body F16179, Gear box M4911J.
This car does not have a matching numbers engine but it is a correct XK unit.
The body work is not tragic like many of these projects but the underside needs considerable work. With new chassis costing £2500.00 only,
maybe the way to approach this would be to build it direct onto a new chassis.
A great and sensibly priced project for JDC members who are not hung up on matching numbers.
The price very much reflects this and is well below market value for a project of this kind.
The car is pretty much complete with no major or difficult items to get. An absolute bargain price of £38,000.00
This car arrives in approximately 4 weeks time. A 50 % deposit will be required to hold the car and if you wish to pay in full a pre arrival discount will be considered.
