An exquisitely restored 1960 Jaguar XK150.
This particular Jaguar 3.8 litre XK150 DHC was manufactured on 17th September 1960, being delivered, via Hoffmans of Halifax, to its first owner, industrialist Mr Brook, of Almondbury, Huddersfield, exactly 1 month later. Mr Brook kept the car through a decade, covering in excess of 37,000 miles in the car, and keeping it over a house move to Birkby, again in Huddersfield. The car was last on the open market over a decade ago and is being offered from a highly sympathetic owner, this is one of those rare opportunities that comes along once in the proverbial blue moon.
It wears the most desirable drophead coachwork and importantly retains its original 3.8 litre engine introduced just one year before production of the XK150 range ceased. An original right-hand drive car, NCP 768 had resided with just five owners since new. The file accompanying the car records these details as well as providing information concerning the comprehensive restoration
This meticulous rebuild was carried out by highly respected marque specialists Rectory Classics under the auspices of Stuart Playford. The work took over three years and cost £60,000 to complete and the finished product is quite possibly one of the finest XK150s available.
Correspondence with the XK magazine has revealed that NCP 768 is possibly the last surviving drophead coupe, there being no record of the three that were manufactured after it. The XK is offered with two box files full of records, along with a photographic record of its bare metal, body off chassis restoration, as well as its buff log book, instruction manual and a plethora of other paperwork, reciepts and doccumentation.
In February 2008 Sigma Engineering fettled the engine to "Fast Road " spec and this was installed together with all synchro 4 speed box, still with overdrive. Alternator fitted at same time. Original gearbox with overdrive and dynamo and steering wheel are all included in the sale.
Finished in the beautiful & original period colour scheme of Mist Grey with rich red leather interior, and a black mohair hood, this is a magnificent example of what has long been considered the best of the illustrious XK model range.
One of the most desireable post-war British sports cars of all.
