1959 Jaguar XK150 SE Drophead Coupe

This particular 3.4 Litre XK150 SE has a well documented and interesting history. The car was originally purchased by a Mrs. Gamble of St. Albans in 1960 and was in her possession until the age of 85. The car was still being used by her on a regular basis but was reluctantly sold. Throughout her stewardship the car was regularly maintained with a number of bills. The car was taken off the road in early 1982 for restoration. The body work was carried out by Coupe's of North London, comprising of stripping the body back to bare metal. Mechanical reconditioning was carried out by Abraxas Racing in June 1983, including a brake overhaul, new fuel tank, springs and exhaust. The engine was completely overhauled and all chrome work was re-plated by the London chrome company. The car was sold to a Mr. Cohen in 1990 where it remained in his ownership for six years until it was purchased by the current owner in 1996. The car has covered approximately 52,600 miles which are believed to be genuine considering the ownership history of the car. In 1997 the owner took the car to former keeper Alice Gamble. At 92 she was delighted to see the car and enjoyed a nostalgic ride. During the drive Mrs. Gamble said that the fastest she had driven it was 105 mph on the newly built M1 after a bet from a friend that the car could not do 100 mph! 645 GBH is finished in British Racing Green with a green leather interior and is fitted with a black hood that is in good condition. This particular car is a special equipment model and as such is fitted with wire wheels, a chrome boot rack and wing mirrors as well as a radio. The car is described as being in good condition all round and is supplied with a large history file containing bills and receipts, a V5 document and a current MoT valid until March 2007. This is a fine example of a usable drophead XK150 with a unique and interesting history.
