    Auction description:
A 1959 example of the fixed head coup, this car is an original UK specification model finished in metallic grey with red leather trim and has the optional automatic transmission. The car is understood to have been the subject of a ground-up restoration some sixteen years ago and is understood to have covered only around 2,000 miles since the completion. The recorded mileage currently stands at approximately 65,000 which, according to the vendor, may well be correct. The red upholstery remains original although patinated, and the car is fitted with the optional wire wheels correctly shod with cross-ply tyres. An extensive file of documentation is provided which includes photographs of restoration work in progress, original RF60 logbook, a current MOT certificate valid until 11th November 2008 and a V5C registration document. Numerous bills etc. are also supplied.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
