Car to be at auction 8'08
    www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/pubweb/publicSite.r

    Auction description:
Sale 16250 - A Sale of Jaguar Motor Cars and Related Automobilia, 9 Aug 2008
    XK60, Goodwood, Chichester, Sussex

    Lot No: 205
    1960 Jaguar XK150SE 3.4-Litre Coupé
    Registration no. 900 AOM
    Chassis no. S824582DN
    Estimate: £7,000 - 9,000

In barn storage for the past 25 years, this late-1960 Jaguar XK150SE Coupé is equipped with the desirable manual/overdrive transmission and appears to have had only three owners from date of first registration. The vendor advises us that ‘900 AOM’ has been repainted at some time (from blue to green) and that the engine, although still a 3.4-litre unit, is believed not to be the original. Running and driving, although with inoperative brakes, the car is lacking a windscreen but otherwise appears substantially complete and highly original, and thus represents a sound basis for restoration. The vehicle is offered with old-style logbook and Swansea V5 registration document.

    Classified ad asking £25,000.

    Sellers description:
This is a barn find XK150 SE, it's an original right hand drive with a close ratio manual over drive gearbox with LSD. The car was built in 1958 but not registered until 1960, not sure why, the original colour was Cotswold Blue with gray leather trim. The car does drive, I've replaced some bits, 4 pot alloy from brake calipers steering rack mounts track rod ends new complete stainless exhaust system, de-coked the head, stripped and cleaned the carbs and fitted new main jets. Basically I like it how it is and thought it would be great fun to drive it to Jaguar meeting as it is but mechanically good, however I have far too many other projects and not enough garage space so a few will have to go. The body look a bit dim but is not to bad, it does however have a new original rear wing! The car is a project that does run and drive and will be great when finished.

A sought after 'Special Equipment' model, this example was fitted from new with the close-ratio overdrive gearbox and the limited-slip differential. Described by the vendor as a 'barn find', the car is offered for restoration and sold strictly as viewed. The engine is said to be very good, the chassis solid and the transmission sound. '900 AOM' has been fitted with a stainless steel exhaust and four-pot front brake callipers, and comes with an assortment of spares including a new wiring loom. Accompanying paperwork consists of a heritage certificate and all registration documents including the original buff logbook.

    Description from above auction:

    Restoration show sale 2015
    Lot 147
    Registration: 900 AOM
    Chassis Number: S824582DN
    Engine Number: V50328
    Number of cylinders: 6
    CC: 3442cc
    Year of Manufacture: 1958
    Estimate (£): 30,000 - 35,000
    Sold for (£): Unsold

Appearing to be in notably solid condition the car is believed to be full matching numbers as confirmed by the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Some minor recommissioning work has been undertaken on the car and we are told the engine runs well with good oil pressure. A stainless steel exhaust has been fitted along with new front brake calipers. The car comes with new windscreen chromes and wiring loom along with other assorted spare parts.

Inside the car seems to be very original, except for the carpets, and is mostly complete. The seats appear to be in remarkable condition considering their age and, along with the rest of the car, ripe for a very worthwhile restoration.

Presented with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, the original buff logbook and a current V5C, '900 AOM' is a terrific motorcar that could be a "pride of joy" in a serious Jaguar enthusiasts' collection.
