    ESTIMATE £50,000-£60,000

    Lot Number 115
    Reg. Number UK Registered
    Chassis Number S824581DN
    Year 1958
    Make Jaguar
    Model XK150 SE

This lovely right hand drive car is presented in its original colour of Old English White with red interior, on its original number plate and showing only 67,000 miles. The car's originality is supported by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate, certified copy of the Devon Archives, and inspected by the London XK specialist from the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club. This example also retains its original engine, chassis and gearbox with working overdrive in original livery.

Mr Sanderson of Torquay first bought 692BTT new in March 1959. From there it appears that she was owned by Wing Commander Graham Rogers MBE DFC, a pilot in the RAF's 92nd squadron. From there she was exported in 1983 to Turin, Italy, where she was awarded the numbered status of Historic Classic Car (HCC), confirming originality, and she carries the club badges on her front badge bar today. The separate numbered metal numbered HCC badge is sold with the car. The rear seats were removed at some point in Italy - it's unclear as to why - however replacement frames, imported from Bassett's in the US are sold with the car and it would be a simple matter to reinstate the rear seats if the new owner wished to do so.

Imported back into the UK in February of this year, she was immediately passed to Steve Coleman's Jag West London Workshop for a full overhaul. This included a full service, new camshaft covers, rebuilt carburettors, new shock absorbers, new discs all around, rebuilt suspension with new bushes throughout and extensive re-chroming. The cost of these works totalled £10,450 and bills are on file to support this. The MOT was passed in April 2016 and less than 200 miles have been covered since all of the works were carried out. This wonderful classic British sports car is sold with its original service manual, original Jaguar sales flyer and the original AutoExpress XK150 SE test write up.

     • Correct V5 present

     • Heritage certificate confirming matching numbers

     • 2016 – receipt for suspension rebuild, brake overhaul, steering overhaul, full service, new cam covers, paint and bodywork, etc - £5,400

     • Italian documentation

     • 2016 – receipt for paint and bodywork - £2,325

     • Original service handbook

     • Period literature inc. Feb 1958 Autocar magazine

    The Interior

     • Retrimmed in red leather

     • Beautiful condition throughout

     • Dash plaque detailing 1972 rebuild

The cabin is in extremely good condition throughout, with the seats retrimmed in tasteful red leather and presenting in excellent order; they tilt correctly to allow access to the rear stowage.

The headlining and carpets are clean and complete, and the dash-top and door cards have also been retrimmed to a high standard. The gauges are working correctly, as are the door releases and window winders.

It's all clean and tidy inside the boot as well, with a good carpet, matching spare wire wheel, and mallet for the knock-off wheel spinners.

    The Exterior

     • Old English White paintwork

     • Lovely chrome trim

     • Wire wheels with quality Michelin tyres

Old English White is a classic choice for the XK150, and the quality of the paintwork is very good across the whole car – the only notable blemishes being a few very small bubbles under the paint on the offside front wing.

The light lenses and window glass are all good, and all of the chrome trim is present and correct.

The knock-off wire wheels are attractive and wear quality Michelin tyres with decent tread, and it’s pleasing to note that the hinged vents in the front wings open and close properly using their interior handles.

Underneath, as the photos demonstrate, the car looks to be very solid.

    The Mechanicals

     • Recent £10,000 recommissioning by The Jaguar Workshop

     • Suspension, brakes and steering fully overhauled

     • Drives beautifully

The XK150 offers a robust and engaging mechanical package, serving up entertaining performance along with a supremely smooth ride.

We can see from the history file that this car has recently been treated to a full mechanical recommissioning from marque specialists The Jaguar Workshop, the work totalling over £10,000, and it has covered fewer than 200 miles since then.

As such, it runs very well indeed; the engine starts easily on the first try, idles correctly, and pulls strongly through the revs.

The manual gearbox has a slick action (the non-synchro unit can take a few shifts to acclimatise to, although it’ll be second nature to the seasoned Jaguar aficionado), and the car rides very well with no undue noises.

The suspension, brakes and steering have all been professionally overhauled, and the Jaguar is on the button and ready to enjoy.

Wing Commander Graham Rogers MBE, DFC bought the cream XK150 692BTT directly from Mr.Sanderson in 1965.

Mr.Rogers owned the vehicle for 18 years. He lovingly fully refurbished it in 1972. Marlow.and Taunton people all know of Mr.Rogers and his very beautiful Jag - to this day. Mrs. Rogers still lives in Taunton and Mr.Rogers daughter still lives near Marlow.
