The Heritage Certificate states that this car was registered on 21st March 1958 as a Fixed Head Coupe, finished in Cream with Black interior. It was sold through Henleys Limited, London, to J.E. Bird Automobiles, Lewisham, London and the first owner was The United Friendly Insurance Company, London SE1. The car retains its original registration UXR 65. The current (third) owner purchased the car in March 2006, the previous owner having purchased the car as a project in boxes! It is said to have been stripped down for a rebuild in the 1970's with the body being taken off the chassis. Some photographic records of this survive. The owner’s garage had caved in and caused damage to the XK150’s roof, therefore the decision was made to restore the car as a Drop Head Coupe. The car is said to have undergone a nut and bolt restoration with many new parts. Painted blue with a new fully lined mohair roof and brand new grey leather interior, the restoration was completed in 2005. A good photographic record of this work is available with the car. More recently the car has been restored to its’ original Old English White, and is said to be in remarkably good order. The owner reports some very slight micro-blistering to the front wings but otherwise describes the bodywork and bright work as very good. Equally the underside is said to be very good, having recently undergone wax oiling. 4 new tyres have been fitted this year. The car is fitted with an Auto Watch immobilizer, and a recent insurance valuation (January 2008 ) of £30,000 is in the history file. The owner states that he is selling the car due to lack of time to use it, he has covered just 513 miles since March 2006. MOT’d until June 2009, and tax exempt, this is a great opportunity to acquire a very good XK150 Drop Head, at around half the price of a similar unconverted model.
