This 1957 Jaguar XK140 MC drophead coupe is a non-running project that was purchased by the seller in 1983 and then placed into long-term. The car was repainted green under previous ownership, and the interior is fitted with bucket seats trimmed in red leather. The car features a 3.4-liter twin-cam inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and other equipment includes a black soft top, 16″ knock-off wire wheels, chrome bumpers and trim, and dual SU carburetors. This XK 140 project is now offered at no reserve with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate and a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.
The car was originally black and was repainted green under previous ownership. Equipment includes a black soft top, chrome bumpers and trim, side windows, and a fender-mounted rearview mirror. The paint is faded, peeling, and deteriorated, the body shows rust repairs in the rocker panels and the front fenders, and dents and other damage are present in the body panels. The black soft top is torn and the rear window has deteriorated.
Chrome 16″ knock-off wire wheels show oxidation and are mounted with 6.00-16 Remington Deluxe tires. A matching spare is mounted in the trunk. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.
The red leather seats are stained, torn, and deteriorated. No carpets are fitted, and the door panels consist of plywood sheets. The burl wood dashboard is faded and cracked.
A four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 99k miles, and the total mileage is unknown.
The seller reports that the 3.4-liter inline-six can be turned by hand. The engine is mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and aftermarket mufflers are fitted. The engine block and cylinder head are stamped with G9697-8S, which matches the number on the Jaguar Heritage certificate.
Rust is present on the driver’s side frame rail and on the sheet metal of the underside.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate notes the factory paint color as black and shows a build date of December 5, 1956.
