Purchased by me through my company Classic Motor Action on February 04, 1992 from Joe Canniziani of El Segundo - California and imported in Belgium in March 1992. The car was in a superb restored condition. I kept it for several years in my collection and drove it regulary. An overdrive gearbox was fitted. The car was sold to a Dutch customer in 1996.

In January 1997, the consignor acquired his childhood dream with this Jaguar in Belgium. The previous owner had already bought the XK in June 1992 in the USA from the local owner who had owned the Drophead Coupé since November 1965. According to the Heritage Trust Certificate, the XK140 was delivered to Jaguar Cars New York in November 1956. The factory documents confirm the special equipment and the still installed engine with the number S89798S, as well as the paintwork in Carmen Red.

The Jaguar had already been restored in the USA before it came to Belgium in 1992. When the consignor bought it in 1997, the Jaguar still made a good impression. After the XK was then registered in April 1987, shortcomings in the technical field became apparent during the first larger trips. The consignor consulted a specialist and carried out extensive revision work. Over the years, the Jaguar then received a technical restoration including an engine overhaul.

As an active rally participant, the XK140 was of course also modified somewhat. So there was a stainless steel exhaust with increased throughput, a dual-circuit braking system with disc brakes on the front axle, a radiator with a high-performance mesh, a contactless Mallory ignition system, GAZ dampers all around and a Getrag 5-speed gearbox. In 2016 the clutch and brakes were renewed, in November 2017 the front axle was overhauled and in 2020 there were new HS6 carburettors. In total, the consignor invested around 120,000 euros in maintenance and restoration alone, all of which are backed up by invoices.

Absolute reliability was the top priority at the numerous long-distance events. They took part in rallies such as Liège-Rome, Vienna-Trieste, Basel-Paris, the Gran Premio Nuvolari or the Rallye des Alpes, with fun always being the main focus. The condition of the XK is currently exciting all around. Anyone who sees the Jaguar does not believe that it has been driven a lot, the sports car is still so beautiful. Technically, the XK140 is beyond any doubt. On the one hand, the fact that the rallies left no traces shows the quality of the Jaguar itself, but on the other hand it is of course largely due to the thorough care taken.

At the age of 84, the consignor is now giving up the Jaguar. The new owner acquires an inspiring sports car, tested on regular trips and continuously serviced, the ideal basis for a cloudless joy in the vintage sky.
