The Market Observer in the May 2012 edition of the XK Gazette reports the car appeared on ebay 3/12. Originally delivered to Hoffman, New York City it went to Japan for 20 years and now resides in the UK. Does not have original engine. Its a driver needing new hood and paint.

Originally shipped to Hoffman of New York, the main importer for Jaguar cars in the USA, in June 1955, this lefthand drive Jaguar XK140 drophead coupé spent some time in California and is believed to have been restored there before going to Japan in 1996. There it was part of a large collection and was used sparingly. Recently the car has returned to Europe and had further sympathetic restoration so the paint and chrome are in very good condition. This is a well sorted driving XK140 which performs very well indeed. The engine has been replaced with a 3.8 litre unit which shows good oil pressure and is unusually quiet. The Moss gearbox and the drum brakes have been fully checked and set up properly. This car is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in December 2012, a history file including some invoices and photos and a JDHT Heritage certificate.

The original engine for this car was G3901-8S which in early 1989 was bought by an Australian in California, and which is still in Australia, possibly in another XK140.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
