1954 Jaguar XK140 SE Drophead Coupé
Chassis no. S817079
Engine no. G1781-8S
•Original left-hand drive example
•Present ownership since January 1997
•From a Portuguese private collection
One of 2,310 left-hand drive XK140 drophead coupés made, this SE model was delivered new in the USA via Jaguar's East Coast distributor, Hoffman, in New York. Its first owner was one W A Haupman. Other documents on file identify subsequent owners as Alf George Jacobsen of Hollywood, California and Michael Hastings of New York State, and show that the car was stored, unused, in North Hollywood from 1965 to March 1982.
In January 1982 the XK was purchased in the USA by the lady vendor and imported into the UK; it has since formed part of a private collection in Portugal. Benefiting from recent work on the brakes, which have been renewed throughout, it is described as in generally good condition mechanically, though we are advised that the clutch needs attention. The paintwork and interior are said to be good. Accompanying documentation consists of a bill of sale, Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, California Certificate of Ownership and a UK C&E Form 386 confirming EU duties paid.
