The freshly-rebuilt engine runs sweetly. Clutch linkage and driveshaft are installed and working. The left rear brakes are done, new hub seals installed and left rear hub replaced with a new one.
Wish I had more time to finish up the right side and go for a ride.
And a loathsome rodent ate holes in my original grey leather driver's seat cushion.

Norman is running, moving, and stopping under his own power! After 20 years in my ownership, I can finally move the car around the yard and stop it, a HUGE milestone for both of us!
The car has not been driven since 1973, so it has been sleeping a long time.
But now it has a freshly-rebuilt engine, new brakes, bearings, front suspension and lots of other new bits. The poor old fella looks like the proverbial barn find, covered in dust and most of the interior removed, and with a lot of bondo on the body, but I intend to get the electrics working and drive him, just as he is. An Oily Rag car, to be sure! The body is mostly solid, just ugly, and Kelvinator White to make things worse. But even like that, an XK Jaguar is still beautiful.
    Stay tuned.
    Elated is not the word!

    Still lots to do, but

Lots more work done in preparation for going to the South Shore XK Club's annual gathering in Pembroke, Massachusetts, two hours' drive from home in Shutesbury.

We now have a new fuel tank, all four Michelin X Stop Tread tires mounted on clean and painted Dark red wheels (sure, not correct for a white car, but then, I don't actually like white cars much, and this paint was applied in the sixties and is anything but correct), brakes adjusted and sorted, the new cooling hoses I installed 15 years ago now replaced, plus LOTS of other work.

I have driven the car around the property, which is totally fun! it runs so sweetly, powerful, great-sounding and so cool!

Still more to do but the car is very close to being inspectable and drivable.

They sound great! Sir William's symphony. Good luck going to the show.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
