Ebay item 2/12/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XK140-MC-FHC-Jaguar-XK140-MC-FHC_W0QQitemZ3001983 ...
Opening bid $10,000, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. 62k miles.
Sellers description:
1956 XK140 MC Fixed Head Coupe. The most desireable version of the XK140 offers wire wheels, dual exhaust, 2 fog lamps, plus the C-type head producing 210 bhp. This is a California car needing total restoration. To quote a good friend "a restorer's dream." Car has been in dry storage for 30 years and is extremely solid. Car was put into storage with only 62,000 miles and patiently awaits restoration. Essentially rust free panels are straight and doors do not sag. There is some minor surface rust but nothing to be concerned about. Also a couple minor dents but really very nice overall. Car appears to have been orginally painted dove gray with blue interior but changed at some time in its life. Under the body is a solid chassis showing only minor surface rust. Chrome is all there but needs replated or replaced. All glass is present and in nice shape. The interior wood will need redone but all gauges are there, metal floors are solid. This is a numbers matching car with C-head and 4 speed trans. Engine turns freely (not frozen) and trans will shift through gears. Car does not have overdrive.

Opening bid US $35,000, no bids 6 days left in auction, seller pacclipper, 62k miles, car now said to be in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Sellers description:
XK140 MC Fixed Head Coupe. The most desirable version of the XK-140 with dual exhaust, fog lamps and the C-type head producing 210BHP. This is a California car that is a good candidate for a total restoration. Car was put into dry storage for 40 years having covered 62,000 miles. This is a straight car without sagging doors and with only surface rust. The floors are solid with only minor rust through in the trunk. The interior was re-done in vinyl at some point.
This is a numbers matching car as follows:
Chassis: S814672
Body: J5004
Engine: G4701-8S
Gearbox: JL31168
I am listing the car for a friend of mine. The current owner purchased the car nine years ago with the intent of restoring the car. He is losing his storage building and his restorer has passed away. He spent $9,000 getting the car to run properly, rebuilding the brakes and replacing the exhaust system.

Car now offered at:
significantcars.com/cars/1956jaguar/
Sellers description:
1956 Jaguar 140 MC Fixed Head Coupe $42,500.
This car can best be described as a stalled project. Mechanically the car is superb with every system having been attended to- it starts right up, runs strong, shifts well, and stops well. A California car, the seller bought it to restore due to its very solid body, has had all the mechanical work completed, but has lost interest in the project. A relatively easy cosmetic restoration will get you one of the best driving cars of the era- eligible for all kinds of wonderful events with one of the best and most active Clubs in the hobby. A race proven model that will only increase in value- the XK140MC is arguably the most desirable of the XK's. This is a numbers matching example.
Not to mention it will be drop dead gorgeous restored to its factory black color combination, with a nice set of chrome wires.
